I worked at PAREXEL full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    good benefits package, friendly colleagues

    Cons

Personal development is not taken seriously, managers see this as a box ticking exercise only. There is no budget for external training that would provide development opportunities and as there are no back-ups, any time away from your desk training means a lot of catch up. The training load is enormous and of little use, I received training on using financial tools (a key part of my role) after I had been there 5.5...

    Advice to Management

Completely reassess what training is actually needed, allow your staff to develop and stop allowing people to leave just because of money.

I have been working at PAREXEL full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Flexible working environment, great building, supportive and inclusive colleagues. You can become a family, and having the right management that provides support when necessary and space to do the job you were hired for.

      Cons

Recognition - at times line managers do not use the system to recognise their direct reports, which would boost morale.

      Advice to Management

Use the employee recognition system more for direct reports. The structure relating to management works well. If you have a job to do, do it without needing supervision. The flexible working environment relating to working from home and understanding personal circumstances is really good. You feel supported and part of the team. The organisation is going through many changes which makes people uneasy, however there...

I have been working at PAREXEL full-time

      Pros

Friendly colleagues for the most part. Some opportunity for travel. Line managers are usually very good at taking people's personal situations into consideration.

      Cons

High level management seems to be constantly changing with new 'strategies' and 'missions' but nothing really seems to change day to day. Nothing is communicated in plain English, too much business speak.

      Advice to Management

Let people just implement their good ideas, don't burden them with having to write up presentations and pitches for high level management. Not everything needs a lean/six sigma project. The staff are smart enough to just get on with implementing new processes or ideas. All the red tape puts people off pursuing new ideas.

I worked at PAREXEL full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Plenty of young vibrant people who work for the company so it is easy to meet new people and be in a good environment. They also train you intensively, so you are pretty much in school and learn so many new things which is great!

      Cons

Recognition for hard work is terrible and only given to the ‘favourites’. Blatant favouritism. In addition, the pay is not up to scratch and you are mostly underpaid for being overworked and the blame goes to everyone (HR, The government, inflation etc) when you ask about it. Lastly, if you feel like moving departments or progressing they would rather recruit someone externally than internally.

      Advice to Management

Pay people what they are worth from the tasks they will be doing and recognise people’s hard work.

      Pros

      The office is nice but

      Cons

Bullying is very bad in this place. If you don’t suck up to certain people they will make your life hell at work.

      Advice to Management

Managers need to investigate stuff before they approach people over gossip with no facts.

I worked at PAREXEL full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Opportunity to work with colleagues from across the world, and potential to develop a good career. Lots of friendly colleagues. Excellent benefits e.g. pension, healthcare, additional holiday.

      Cons

Very long hours and poor work/life balance. Dreadful staff retention - did not feel valued. Frustratingly complicated internal processes; too many different computer systems to perform simple tasks. Lack of focus on quality in company processes and applications. Massive resourcing issues due to badly managed teams, leading to constant disappointment for clients.

      Advice to Management

Put quality first, rather than churning out as much work as possible. Slim down cumbersome processes that add no value but take up huge amounts of time.
