I worked at PAREXEL full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very far reaching firm, lots of opportunities internally if you skills or experience in a scientific background. The company has grown largely from acquiring smaller firms.

    Cons

The down side to frowning threw acquisitions is a real silo mentality. The firm is drowned in red tape paper and there is no compromise with it due to being listed on the stock exchange.

    Advice to Management

A much better effort needs to be made to introduce cross department interaction. A real investment and focus on the sales team would give a huge return on that investment.

I have been working at PAREXEL full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to gain experience in a fast paced environment and to make the most of skill based opportunities while you are there

    Cons

Outdated corporate culture, micromanagement, lacks transparency, high stress environment, very high staff turnover 50% in some departments , lower than average remuneration, managers outnumber the scientists/writers in some departments! Superficial emphasis on quality

    Advice to Management

Reduce blame culture, handle mistakes openly, increase transparency, have clear and documented processes, promote true emphasis on quality not just ticking boxes

I have been working at PAREXEL full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you work hard and produce good quality work, there is a great opportunity to progress quickly. Career growth or change are actively supported by Management.
There is open and informal communication, and no favouritism / clique behaviour.
Plenty of social and sports opportunities offered at no or heavily discounted fees.

    Cons

Workload can be very high (but then quite normal in this industry)

    Advice to Management

Recruiting more staff will spread the workload, reduce working hours, make people happier, reduce staff turnover, making it all more stable and a better place to work.

I worked at PAREXEL full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good environment, supportive colleagues, not stressful, good international teams and Communication, good discounts and benefits, quite good canteen, flexible working hours

    Cons

Poor management: lack of experience in management, don't look at the quality of work only at metrics, don't help, when you ask for help, no carrier opportunities and progression, salary can be 10.000 difference for the same role, hiring a lot if EU ppl to save on their salary.

    Advice to Management

Most of the management needs to be replaced, there are only few good managers. Company culture and values are not in place.

    Pros

Some great managers and visionary thinking. Pace of change is good and necessary, but there are technical challenges to overcome as with all companies. There is a broad variety of work and many opportunities.

    Cons

As with all large companies there are challenges with the different groups and office politics.

    Advice to Management

Treat staff like valued unique individuals

    Pros

Great place to work, some very good people in PAREXEL. Highly dedicated and caring for the work they do - things are on the up and i would not hesitate in asking my friends to join such a super business, led by a great leader who has been here since day one.

    Cons

Some staff who have been in the company a while from previous acquisitions are not professional enough and let the company down.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the professional and weed out the unprofessional.

I worked at PAREXEL full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Convenient location, decent pay, good physical working environment. Can be good work-life balance depending on your project/management/department. Depending on your goals, it can be a great place to coast.

    Cons

Beware: they do screen monitoring of every single employee despite what they say in their handbook (with playback feature, of course). Dishonest. Parexel is a package-company: they purchase a lot of software packages; no problem with that, in my view, but if you're hired because you're an excellent Java developer, you should be informed you won't do any Java work at all, but Rather Pega or Informatica or whatever. Very dishonest.

    Advice to Management

You expect employees to be honest. Then, be honest with them.

    Pros

The company has a good reputation. The Directorate listens to the employees. The company is sizable and global. There are progression opportunities available for you if you prove you are capable and hard working.

    Cons

The progression can be over complicated - there are too many hoops to jump through. The workload is often poorly distributed. Support for new starters are not as good as it should be.

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities to gain experience which will help you to progress into your next role. Put more emphasis and effort into work allocation.

    Pros

Highly entrepreneurial, still run by the founder, global in outlook and fast to move on new opportunities.

    Cons

A bit cheap for consultants - not very good at rewarding project teams outside of the sales team.

    Advice to Management

Sales team are pretty lazy, compared to technical talent, but they get rewarded more, that doesn't make sense
