I worked at PGL (UK) full-time

    Pros

Can meet some great people and make some good friends. Active, fun job. Good for a summer job but not long term.

    Cons

My main issue is the fact that the manager admitted to my friend, also a member of staff, who was having a hard time, that they care about the guest welfare, not the staff welfare. No wonder there is such a high turnover rate. This was after she had complained about the way she had been treated by senior staff. Her concerns were ignored as ultimately, staff happiness did not seem all that important to the company. This...

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to staff concerns. When someone tells you they have a problem with how they are being treated, don't just ignore them.

I worked at PGL (UK) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The work was enjoyable, working with kids running sessions was good fun

    Cons

Run down accommodation, sharing a box room with another instructor. Apprentice pay for your first year, and no recognised qualifications at the end of it. No work life balance. It’s a lifestyle rather than a job

    Advice to Management

Better pay. provide staff with proper outdoor gear not cheap uniform. Remember that staff accommodation is home for 9 months, staff shouldn’t be shoved in like sardines.

I worked at PGL (UK) full-time

    Pros

Great team of people to work with, management were better in off peak, but never had any major issues. All equipment was kept in brilliant condition meaning the kids got the best in the safest way unlike some other companies ive worked for.

    Cons

The food wasn't brilliant but eatable, id definitely recommend self catering if you are boarding there.

I worked at PGL (UK) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great opportunities for training and getting qualifications Encourage managers to come from existing employees - means that managers understand troubles of employees Overall really friendly staff You get paid for the training, and the training is in depth and effective You're allowed to use any of the equipment you are trained on outside of work hours with permission, e.g. if you are archery trained you can go and...

    Cons

Some managers can be annoying and make you do pointless tasks just for the sake of making you work Rota can change last minute Can be long working hours, starting in the morning waking kids up and finishing late at night putting them to bed

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at PGL (UK) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Making one or two close friends. Free uniform and food, of which food was very decent.

    Cons

Very poor pay considering the hours worked. Management critisize unconstructively constantly therefore damaging self esteem and spoil any satisfaction you may get from which would otherwise be a very rewarding job. Poor staff sleeping arrangements. It is not a good idea to put a person who is on an earlier shift in a room with someone who gets up later. Inability to sleep properly at times due to inconsiderate coworkers...
