Pros

The domain is really interesting, especially the engineering challenges of distributing and storing large high value assets. There are a handful of supportive and encouraging colleagues that have been with the company for a long time. Engineers have the opportunity to have a lot of hands on experience with current cloud technology.

Cons

Previous reviews are accurate, the company is very amateur and lacks leadership at nearly every level. Communication of expectations is especially problematic. Product objectives are consistently poorly defined without specifications nor designs. Engineers do their best, but the demands from executives are frequent producing dramatic changes in scope which are incredibly disruptive. In the end engineers shoulder all the blame and are not supported by their managers. There is currently a exodus of engineers; everyone on my team have either given notice or are actively looking for other employment. There is definitely a group of favourites run the place and push everyone out. I have been thrown under the bus several times and had others take credit for my work. While some level of work politics is expected at any organisation, it only amplified by the combativeness and arrogant of the CEO.

Pros

Some good people work here.

Cons

My feedback pretty much follows that of others on here. This company is amateur, which is clearly coming from the top down. As someone else has said in their feedback “...upper management are clueless...” which is a fair summation. Company president is beyond arrogant!

Pros

Get to see how a movie is made. Chance to interact with famous people Convenient office location Lots of vacation days

Cons

No Culture. Culture comes from the top. The CEO/Founder of this company, while he has some good ideas, has no idea how to lead his people. He tends to not communicate or socialize with most of his workers. Basically, the mood her is just come in and work, and work, and work. Fun? nope... No Work/Life Balance. While it has a good vacation policy, good luck trying to use it all. Since Sales/Exec level decision makers mainly come from Hollywood background, their expectation is that you work 24hrs to please the client. The thing is, in Hollywood, projects end and you can get a break. At PIX, the projects are going all the time with no break. Expect to get burnt out quickly doing stupid stuff. Favored Employees. If you aren't one, expect your life to be miserable. Employee who are detriment to the team are not removed because they are personal friends to the founders. Bad executive leadership. Just see above comments. The founders also tend to chase after shiny new features that are release half baked and abandoned. It wastes resources when they could be spent on overhauling the core product which definitely needs help Cheap. Whatever they offer, you can probably do better somewhere else. Raises don't come often... Secretive: They (upper managment) don't trust you there unless you are a Favored Employee. Expect to be kept in the dark on a lot of things about the Company's financial health. Also the company makes you a "Partner" when you first sign up and you have to pay them up front for the shares. If you quit, they take all the shares back and give you back the amount you paid. You will not gain equity if you leave. It's really a dick move.
