I worked at PPL full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Competitive salary and benefits, dedicated employees, each day is different which makes the work exciting and challenging.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for promotion/growth unless you live in Allentown (headquarters). Major changes in management have caused significant issues and a fear based environment. Constant restructuring and downsizing, employees being replaced with contractors, constructive culture is preached but no longer practiced. Good employees are jumping ship....

    I worked at PPL

    Pros

Internship program is extremely involved. You will meet executives, and see how everything works in a real corporate environment. The pay is higher than other companies. 98% of the workers are extremely friendly and mature.

    Cons

Location. Allentown has great parts in one area, and then it's scary in the next. Berwick is an excellent little town, but there's nothing going on there.

I have been working at PPL for less than a year

    Pros

There are plenty of opportunities as an intern to meet with senior level management, take professional development seminars and work on significant projects that add to your professional story and that will make you very marketable when apply to full time positions. Wonderful company culture, everyone is extremely helpful and want you to succeed

    Cons

The location is in Allentown, not a very good area. Some interns complained of not having enough to do. There is an older workforce but that will lead to more opportunities for younger employees as a lot of the older employees will begin to retire.

    I worked at PPL

    Pros

Benefits friendly coworkers annual review process (annoying to complete but gave excellent feedback on my performance) easy commute from anywhere in the Lehigh Valley

    Cons

Allentown. I wouldn't have left if the company had been located closer to Philadelphia or New York City. I felt safe during the day - coming and going to my car or going out for lunch, but the area didn't have enough to offer.
