I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

if you have no special skills, talents, or education this is a company that can take you in and give you a good salary.

    Cons

lots of incompetent low- and mid managers whose main job is passing the pressure down to their employees. Their only value-add is that they have been around for 10-15 years. you come across some managers in forecasting and data analytic jobs that don't even have technical background and these are the leaders who make decisions for the future of PG&E!

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

-Benefits (health care, time off, 401k match) -Work-Life Balance (company has generous family leave policies) -Relatively stable industry (everyone needs electricity...) -Easy to move around and try something new

    Cons

-Low salaries compared to other bay area companies for the same position -Incompetent leadership (most departments are just desperate to retain people, so they promote whoever is left but they are not necessarily the best candidate for the job) -No perks: free lunch, team events, etc. (company is trying to cut spending but losing talent at the same time because people are fed up with the lack of respect.) -You have to apply for your promotion. Leadership already knows who they want for the promotion but they ask others to apply for it. That way they can comply with HR rules to interview multiple candidates. This usually leads to employees scared from ever applying for these roles and left feeling like a pawn.

I worked at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance is excellent, but depends on your team/manager. People you work with are good for the most part. Good health benefits for those with families. Look elsewhere if you are looking for quick progression, the company rewards loyalty and longevity over performance and ambition.

    Cons

Lots of politics. Many leaders are in their positions because they made the right friends and stayed long enough, not there because of their ability or aptitude. PG&E in the near future will look very different, and there is a lot of uncertainty as to what that will look like and who it will impact. Some tech very out of date, but to be expected with a company like this.
