    Pros

    Good retail experience, fair managers

    Cons

    long days, can get boring

    Advice to Management

This was a decent job for a high schooler. Make a little money and get some retail experience. The managers are very fair and the people are fun to work with. It was an enjoyable summer job before college. Hours are fairly flexible and the interview process was easy.

    - Management sees growth potential and helps you move up within the company.
    - Generous clothing discounts and employee contests.
    - Ability to learn all aspects of the retail business from visual merchandising to customer service to daily store tasking.

    Cons

I truly have nothing bad to say about Pacsun.

I have been working at Pacific Sunwear part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. It's a super easy job, you really only have to fold, ring, and unlock fitting rooms.
    2. The co-workers and management really make or break this job, luckily my store has the most amazing people and I genuinely look forward to my shifts.
    3. The discount is really good! You get 5 50% off items per month and 30% off anything else.
    4. Requesting time off is very accessable and not frown-upon, as long as you give them ample amount of time before they make the schedule
    5. It's a really easy-going environment. Management honestly doesn't expect too much from associates since we're all mostly high school/college students.

    Cons

    1. You can get pretty long shifts sometimes. If you're doing a floorset where you reorganize the store and put out new merchandise, you can be there until 2am or have to come in at 5am. Black Friday can be long too! And depending on your mall, your closing shifts can be pretty late.
    2. You don't get a lot of hours. It is a part-time job but there are weeks when you only get one 4 hour shift. Luckily, my store has a group chat and people are always giving away shifts so that's how I pick up some hours. I noticed that if your managers notice your a good worker, they will give you more hours too.
    3. Bi-weekly pay. This is really annoying when you need money. Also, they give you a debit card and load money onto it (that's how you get paid) and the entire set-up process of it was super confusing.
    4. Bad communication between upper management to lower. We are given these papers with how the store should look and has each merchandise in a specific place. But we never recieve the same merchandise that's on the papers so we have to improvise, and then upper management will come in and get mad that we don't have the same stuff that's on the paper. It's really not organized.

    Advice to Management

    1. Take hiring people more seriously. Don't just hire applicants to have a body in the store! And train them better. I always find myself teaching the new hires how to do a lot of stuff because management never showed them.
    2. Have more faith your associates. We like to feel that we are useful, and sometimes the managers can look down on us or just assume we won't do anything correct.

    Cons

I worked at Pacific Sunwear part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You will meet and interact with a lot of interesting people, both customers and coworkers

    Cons

Company may have escaped bankruptcy but be expected to complete seemingly unrealistic merchandising tasks on top of your sales goals, with few or no other associates scheduled alongside you. The hours and pay are also pretty abysmal

    Advice to Management

There was basically little to no check-ins or communication from area or district management to our store and both us at middle-management and our general manager were often left feeling very isolated and without any guidance from above
