I have been working at Packt full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Modern office, large social scene, free fruit and drinks provided. Good equipment provided and a nice HR team.

    Cons

People disappear, can feel unstable and unsettling. Not much opportunity for progression in the editorial roles. Supposed to be a twice a year bonus but hasn’t happened for the last 2 due to instability/profit.

I worked at Packt full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There is great opportunity to develop and self learn - start up mentality means fewer restrictions and corporate red tape. Creative, driven people.

    Cons

To progress you must be a proficient backstabber. Sexist and homophobic types in senior management team.

I worked at Packt full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, mostly great people, laid back approach, interesting dynamic subject matter.

    Cons

Lack of vision and inconsistent management from top team. Company is crippled by siloing and overt favouritism, with strategy and approach changing overnight with no consultation with the people who will be effected. The same approach is also taken with redundancies and departing staff members, with no support given to those who remain by the top team or the HR department.

I worked at Packt full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good Pension CEO Flexible working

    Cons

Top Team Office Staff turn around COO is old school and chauvinistic When I join Packed it was a nice place to work, but over two years they made lots of people redundant. Having a huge recruitment drive previously, to then follow with making 200+ staff in Mumbai "redundant" then followed by key people in the Birmingham office.

I have been working at Packt full-time for more than a year

    Pros

+ Great working environment. Nice office + There’s a great work/life balance + great opportunities to learn

    Cons

+ Team strategy keeps changing so often that it can be distracting. + In my experience despite being told my voice matters, my opinions often get overruled by managers and ignored.
