Pros

- I worked at Particular Audience as their Technical Account Manager (TAM) until I went on to develop my own venture. Leaving was difficult. It is a phenomenal place to be, especially the London office. Every day felt like going to see my friends and doing meaningful work. - There is a culture of camaraderie that seemed to be very well-maintained. People who have obviously been friends for years include you in their banter from Day 1. The open office in the London office helps people between different departments intermingle, which was incredibly fun. - The company does delegation exceptionally well. I do not remember being micromanaged at any point. Kudos to my line manager at the firm (Beth Smith) and the company CEO for managing that, as I know from past experience how difficult that can be. - The onboarding process was tremendously supportive. (Shoutout to my former colleague, Fabio Cancemi, for his help and generosity through that time.) - As a TAM, I was given meaningful work and opportunities to challenge myself; e.g., I was given the task to complete a full internal data audit project within my first few months at the company. I given almost total freedom on how I conducted the audit. This freedom enabled me to talk to dozens of different people within the team (even if some conversations ended up not being germane to the project) and gain a better sense of how the project should be completed. If I'd been restricted by the management, I doubt I could have approached the topic so comprehensively (or enthusiastically, for that matter). - Highly recommend it to anyone who'd like to have a stimulating experience at a fast-growing scale-up.

Cons

- The timezone difference between the European team (my team) and the Asia-Pacific team (where the engineering team mainly resided) was sporadically challenging. But this was probably unique to my position in the company, as I liaised between engineering and accounts teams in different regions — so most other Particular Audience employees might not face this.

Pros

- Really nice people - Sociable at times - Nice office - Opportunities to progress - Financial incentive to hit target

Cons

- No flexible working - Had to go in during COVID despite pandemic - Too many male employees overriding female employees - Not a clear onboarding structure - Minimal training - Feeling of 'lad culture' - De-motivated by the fact that only other female BD in Canada was not kept on either and all the men were promoted. *big problem here*

We take this feedback very seriously. Culture, diversity and inclusion are core focuses for the business so we are saddened to hear this. We are in the process of anonymously surveying feelings on company culture and this review does conflict with internal opinion. Below, we address some of the points raised in this review. Gender Opportunity We agree that the gender ratio in our sales department is not acceptable and we are actively working to improve it. That said, we promote entirely based on merit and regardless of gender, our leadership team ratio is testament to this. As of August 12th, our gender ratios by department are as follows: - Sales and Business Development: 7.1% female - Product and Engineering: 30% female - Customer Success: 100% female - Leadership Team: 44.4% female We encourage female candidates to apply for roles externally and internally, less than 20% of applicants for roles in sales and engineering are female. We actively engage with bodies that support women in tech and are always open to feedback and collaboration on how to do better. Our maternity policy is one example of how we are ensuring Particular Audience is a top choice place to work for women in tech, nurturing long-term careers and life balance. Training and Work Arrangements Guidance on how we measure performance is transparent and regularly communicated. Our team members are assessed on their overall attitude, their individual performance metrics, their participation within the team, and their potential to grow at PA. We are always formalising training resources and every entry level joiner is paired up with a buddy who has a financial incentive to train their mentee to the best of their ability. That said, we are a startup and expect a high degree of autonomy, curiosity and a self-starter mentality. A flexible work structure is in place on a role-specific basis throughout the company. We've maintained safe working conditions throughout COVID and team members came back into the office in line with government guidance. We welcome further conversation on culture and diversity.
