I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time

    Pros

Work life balance, facilities on site, company direction, senior management

    Cons

Still risk averse, need to secure some new big brand names and get closer to the customer

    Advice to Management

Be less risk averse, get better view of business priorities and stick to them

I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some great people, a nice gym

    Cons

Could do with more courageous Exec and leadership. Small budgets prevent teams from operating at the best. Pay below the norm, no transparency and no salary banding so unable to pitch yourself against others at your level. Feeling that there are no significant investments in the pipeline.

I worked at Pentland Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family business, try to make employees part of the family. Good benefits particularly if based in Finchley offices. Give ownership and responsibility to employees.

    Cons

flat structure within the brand I was in. Many benefits only accessible at Finchley (gym, pool, staff shop) - I was field based so rarely there.
Pay seemed lower than other places for similar roles

I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great office location and discounts
Friendly people (but not necesary best co workers/ team work)

    Cons

Unclear business strategy, resulting in lack of career progression or opportunities to move around
Excessive turnover across the business, creating negativity and low mood
Lack of team spirit within finance- blame culture, lack of accountability
Mid management in need of soft training
Bare minimum- ideal if you are looking for a 9 to 5 job. Not challenging enough

    Advice to Management

Clear business strategy that translates in exciting objectives and opportunities
    Pay market rates
Have a genuine interest for your employees and their career
Create team spirit within your teams

You have amazing brands and potential, empower and trust your team to become great!

I worked at Pentland Brands full-time

    Pros

Camaraderie through multiple redundancy exercises and endless job instability.

    Cons

Senior women have consistently "left" and been replaced by men.
The gender pay gap is 18.4%, more than double the UK average of 9.1%.
The returner rate of women after maternity leave is laughably poor.
The practically all-male Executive are so distant from their female consumers that their product, sales and marketing decisions are out of step with the market.

    Advice to Management

Resign and hire some talented women to replace you.

I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the best work places I have worked in. A company that always looks for what is best for its employees as well as what is best for the business.
People are always on hand to help if required. When starting at Pentland, I was made to feel part of the Pentland family straight away.

    Cons

Communication has been a draw back over the end of last year. However that has drastically improved in recent months.

    Advice to Management

Clearer communication, especially in times of change.

I worked at Pentland Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Discount off various brands
    Holiday Entitlement
Some good people to work with.

    Cons

    Low salary - high expectations
    Rubbish Break entitlement
    Not enough staff
No support given by direct manager
    Reluctance to communicate honestly
Inexperienced senior management with no long term vision.
    Ridiculous workloads
    Toxic blame culture.

    Advice to Management

Review your senior management and particularly in the retail sector. Be honest with employees about job losses and store closures. Toxic blame culture and people managers with no people skills. Good talented people are leaving due to bad senior management, lack of effective communication and downright lies.
