I have been working at Pernod Ricard USA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Wonderful colleagues. Conviviality is prioritized. Freedom to identify gaps and solve for them. Time off from Christmas to New Years. Flexible Working environment / work from home. Product Allowance. Inspiring new female CEO

    Cons

Many leaders have been with Pernod Ricard their whole career, so they haven't seen anything else. Can get in the way of progress or bringing in best practices from other companies or industiries. There can be misalignment and there are gaps in some teams. Roles and who is responsible for what can be unclear but the leadership team seems to be working to fix this. How people interpret conviviality can sometimes slow things down.

    Pros

there are some very nice people. product allowance (granted it is much lower for non directors) and extremely large travel budgets

    Cons

Company is extremely insular - top management is 90% Pernod lifers and European. Culture is passive aggressive and hierarchical. leadership cannot make a decision or stick to it. lots of churn and inefficiency. true lack of empathy among leaders. company cannot face reality that Absolut is a dog that is draining resources. company is more focused on the dog and pony shows that actually gaining a consumer insight or doing an ROI analysis on spend. spend more time doing internal power point than driving business.

    Pros

Great work/life balance, remote work option Weekly happy hour and product allowance Compensation and bonus structure is OK CEO is a nice guy and very hands-on

    Cons

This really should be a fun job, but teams are stuck completing powerpoint presentations and hosting events for internal stakeholders vs. producing killer marketing programs for the actual consumer. Goals/metrics are created out of thin air and unsubstantiated. Politics are at an all time high. I've seen staff actually do great work, but get blackballed because they refuse to share their Instagram handle. Tier II Marketing leaders (Directors/VP) are old-school thinkers and rely heavily on traditional tactics that fail to move product. There's also too much power given to a 30-something year old that has never been accountable for P&L. Speaking of leadership, there's an obvious disregard for diversity among senior staff, brand teams, and distributor partners. Which SUCKS because several brands rely on multicultural consumers to sell product. Growth opportunities are laughable - no clear avenues or benefits for promotion. FREQUENT layoffs (almost yearly) and constant reorgs.

    Pros

    Conferences, travel and product allowance

    Cons

Completely toxic work environment fostered by an old boys club mentality. No sense of trust or compassion between colleagues who would gladly throw you under the bus to further their own career goals/cover themselves. Harassment and drunkenness at work events commonplace and overlooked.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. PR USA takes seriously all reports of harassment. We encourage all employees to “Speak Up” regarding any concerns. We have a Speak Up hotline to report such concerns as well as robust policies detailing how to report concerns and to whom. When behavior is identified that conflicts with our values or policies, we investigate and address the situation appropriately; and we have zero tolerance for retaliation against any employee who speaks up in good faith. Additionally, promoting responsible consumption of our products is one of core values. We require all of our employees to consume our products responsibly. The company recognizes that alcohol may be consumed at business lunches and dinners or for business related reasons. Moderation is expected and overindulgence is not tolerated. PR USA is committed to creating an atmosphere of conviviality, which necessarily means one free from bullying, harassment, discrimination and one that promotes responsible consumption.

I worked at Pernod Ricard USA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Worked at PR prior to 2014 (Glassdoor does not list an earlier year at the time I am writing this review). Learned a lot on my own, yet the opportunity to learn more was there — management just didn’t invest the time or energy to explain the inner workings of the industry. Lots of well known wine and spirits brands at the time. Enjoyed some of the perks like product allowance, company dinners and car service.

    Cons

The mature brands and mature management team created a stagnant, tired environment, and a good old boys culture. Some lethargic people in energy, appearance and skill set.

I have been working at Pernod Ricard USA full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Extremely Open minded leadership team. True opportunity to make your case for new ways of doing things and make a positive impact. Lots of runway. Some of the best people / colleagues I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Interesting work. Evolving industry. And lots of perks like weekly happy hours, product allowance, barsmarts classes, bottle / product desk drops, and more. Also, if you're someone who cares about your surroundings, it's a gorgeous office!

    Cons

Company is transitioning from old to new ways of doing things which is exciting for most, but difficult for some. If you like change, innovation, and the opportunity to try new things and make your mark, this company is for you!

    Cons

Management couldn't care less about their employees, it's all about them, they all cover for each other with the help of HR, which is totally useless. .. My group has gone down the hill last Year and a half. The management has their favorites and no matter how poorly they perform, they get rewarded. Pernod use to be the place to work, not anymore.
