I have been working at Pharmaceutical Product Development full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is job security, also there are plenty of training opportunities. Great people work there, have made friends with most of them.

    Cons

The overload is huge, the staff turnover very big. Everyone is under big pressure, including management. The stress of not being able to do your job properly.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people, decrease workload, retain staff.

I have been working at Pharmaceutical Product Development full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Interesting projects. Good salary, possibility to work at home.

    Cons

No work-life balance at all. I work more than full time (1.5 FTE) for a couple of months as some projects seem to be prepared in rush and bad design results in lots of issues. Still upper management is focused on your billability and metrics. No career prospects. High deficiency of resources in clinical management (project assistants, CRAs).

    Advice to Management

Stop treating like a employee number. Do trainings, invite employees to attend conferences, workships etc. Award good employees.

    Pros

Good training provided. Good support and progression available in the company. Lots of routes to take and they also have a dedicated start up team

    Cons

No longer do the Research Assistant program, this was a great program for training up new CRAs. It would be good if that was brought back
    poor work life balance

I have been working at Pharmaceutical Product Development full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Listens to employees, lots of possible positions/movement within the company, good benefits

    Cons

There are a few people I’ve run across that don’t fit at PPD-not team players, divisive, catty. They can make things miserable until you roll off that project.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great leadership! Weed out those who don’t embody PPD...even if they’ve been there a while. Continue working on making pay competitive.

    Pros

Some coworkers can be nice. Time can be flexible. Can work from home sometimes which is nice. Can’t think anything more.

    Cons

Some coworkers are very rude. Horrible work life balance, you are expected to work over time and unrealistic long hours.

I worked at Pharmaceutical Product Development full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

lower pay tan most CROs, but many incentive (pay out food per diem regardless of used), study bonus, performance bonus, they try to accommodate travel in your region and no micro management. Work was pretty easy.

    Cons

low pay, increase is about 2-4% per yr, only a few are promoted.

    Advice to Management

Promote more staff and start giving competitive pay. Don't wait until we leave to give us a counter offer. Either way we end up returning for higher salary later when you rehirer us.

Success depends on the study team you are working with. Lots of unprofessional people working there.
