A place to learn, grow and have fun

Pros

A strong focus on helping customers succeed, that I've not seen elsewhere. I've seen everyone, including management, go the extra mile to make a customer's life better. One of the greatest feelings I've experienced is the appreciation from a customer whose life I just made easier! I'm challenged to look beyond just finding the quickest solution. It took awhile to get used to, but I've improved a lot because of it. Team activities! Axe throwing! I've been able to (and seen others) impact various parts of the company outside my role. From product suggestions/feedback, to tweaks in the sales process, to making new best practices.

Cons

They made some bad hires in the past, who were not fun to be around. Thankfully they are gone. Sometimes I've had to work on something I didn't want to. But I guess happens at all startups where you have to wear many hats.

Pros

- Tourism industry attracts some great clients - Working on new problems with relative autonomy - Can change things quickly if they aren't working

Cons

- Expectation to put the business ahead of everything with poor rewards, benefits and no recognition - Culture is toxic and completely misaligned with the company values - do as I say, not as I do and extreme lack of accountability - Guaranteed that the CEO forced every person in the business to write positive reviews here

We’re sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with our team. We do our best to ensure each team member thrives both personally and professionally. We care what they have to say, that’s why we have weekly one on ones, regular meetings, team building outings, socials and many more activities to hear and take action. We have a culture of constant improvement and love getting feedback from our team members. As a team, we were confused by your statement as no specifics were provided and makes it hard for us to understand where the gaps lie. We do whatever it takes for our customers and our team members. That’s who we are. For example, a couple nights ago both our founders were up to 1:30AM supporting a client with their reporting. Over the holidays, the support team was provided time off and the founders covered all support responsibilities so that PicThrive team members could spend time with family and friends. This weekend, one of the founders did a last minute onboard at 10pm because an AE had a client that wanted to go live. Both founders are always on call 24/7 so other team members don’t have to be. For example, the founders have had team members and their significant others stay at their mother's house to support them when they didn’t have a place to stay. They’ve helped a team member’s significant other, for example, get their dream job. They have even provided support to another team member in growing their side business. Every day, every team member cares and does what it takes. That’s who we are and that’s who our team is. Yes, at PicThrive we don’t have unlimited benefits, we’re a bootstrapped startup that doesn’t have free lunches, kombucha on tap, or a full-time barista. We do not believe those define or grow a great culture. We are small, scrappy and ever-changing. You may view that as “poorly run”, our team members view it as an opportunity to take the reigns. We believe great cultures are defined by working with amazingly smart people that like big challenges, think for themselves, challenge each other, can laugh and get things done. We understand that this doesn’t work for everyone. Our team members are always rewarded and are recognized for the hard work they put in and the results they produce. With that said, we are always improving, it’s literally a culture value. We value feedback from every team member and take immediate action. You don’t become a great manager overnight, and the only way to improve is with feedback. Recently the Vancouver team had voiced that they were feeling a little distant so we instituted new activities to bring the team closer together and to keep the communication flowing. We continue to grow with brilliant people who love producing great results and have a lot of fun along the way. Finally, it’s absurd to believe that it’s ‘guaranteed that the CEO forced people to write reviews’ - this isn’t a concentration camp. Team members genuinely love working here and have been here for years. It’s even more absurd to believe that people are fired before they get commissions considering the amount of energy and time we put in recruiting, training and coaching team members for them to be successful outweighs it every time. Plus, the longer an AE is with us, the more reptuation they gain, they more referrals they get, the bigger their book is, the more the company grows! It’s basic math. We’re sorry our team wasn’t a good culture fit for you and your goals in life. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and that you find the right place that’ll make you thrive.
