Pros

Generous healthcare benefits (full medical/dental/vision), a 401k with matching, a bonus program, flexible PTO, office snacks, nice offices, catered lunches, offsite happy hours and hosted events, intramural team activities, enthusiastic and curious colleagues who are usually open to collaboration. You get out what you put in, so you have the potential to learn a lot.

Cons

It's unfortunate, because at first you're blown away by their integrity, and feel connected to their mission of disruption in the Telecom industry. But pretty quickly, you'll find there isn't much substance behind their goals. Their core values are just vehicles for giving your friend a public hi-five, the culture is gossipy—I constantly hear people speaking negatively behind each others backs, and their "perks" feel like bandaids on top of an actual problem. If you don't attend their social events, you're looked down upon and seen as someone who's not supportive of their culture. Also, there's a constant feeling of being watched which could potentially lead to your dismissal. An entrepreneurial spirit is a welcome addition, however putting in the extra effort doesn't amount to much. There's limited to no opportunity for advancement. Also, besides titles, there's a general lack of systems and structure. Finally, there's massive turnover and there have been multiple failed attempts to scale...at some point it leaves you wondering, are the employees the problem or the employers?

Pros

Everyone is nice, food is readily available throughout the day . That's about it for the pros. The casual dress code is refreshing.

Cons

Run in the opposite direction. This company is a revolving door, my advice is to anyone interviewing is to reach out to past employees. I truly regret joining this company.

First, want to sincerely thank you for sharing your opinion here. Critical feedback can be a difficult process to engage in, but we really appreciate any opportunity to open up discussions on how to do better. It sounds like the biggest concern here is turnover. We do set high standards, driven by performance-based metrics. As a result, our sales team is reshaped out of necessity as it continues to grow. The standards that drive excellence on our sales team are the same standards we hold ourselves to - both as a company and leadership team. The hope is that everyone feels supported to do their best work, encouraged to share input on improving current processes, and valued as a contributing member of this company. For this reason, transparency and clarity are extremely important in our approach to team dynamics, reviews, feedback, and growth. If you believe we’ve stumbled along the way in these respects, I’d like to apologize on behalf of the whole team. As you’re a current Pilot employee, I’d truly love the opportunity to discuss these concerns, as well as any other you may have. Having a face-to-face conversation seems like the most productive way to do that, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me personally or to your direct manager.

Pros

Working at Pilot has been a fantastic experience, the people and the culture are top notch. It’s easy to feel truly connected here, like you’re a part of things and can have a tangible impact on the work being done. The opportunity for growth and development is super exciting and I get the impression that the majority of my team feels like they’re in this for the long haul—we bring a ton of passion and excitement to the table because we feel really invested.

Cons

There have definitely been some growing pains as we scale to new cities and new product lines, but we’re managing them much better than other high growth startups I’ve worked with in the past. Also, the open office floor plan can be a little hectic at times but it’s also easy to communicate and stay in touch across teams so I guess I wouldn’t even change that.
