    I worked at Planet Fitness

    Pros

Free Black Card Membership. Free Pizza (Don't have to cook dinner lol) Free Bagels and Coffee (If you forgot breakfast that morning)

    Cons

Pay!! You start at $8.50/hr and you get a raise after 90 days ONLY if you pass your review. The trainer gets more than everyone else except the manager who is salary. Why the trainer gets paid more than the assistant manager is beyond me. Let's be real here does a Planet Fitness trainer do that much?? If you ask for a raise they'll hold it against you. "Oh you asked for a dollar raise, well here is .50 and now we'll watch you closely to make sure you're perfect all the time" Lots of standing. -No breaks unless you decided to walk away from the counter. Most employees would sit in the changing stalls just to give their feet a break. There is no work/home life balance if you're management. Someone didn't show up for their shift? Oh well management has to come in. There's also a lot of cleaning, you're basically a glorified housekeeper. Of course you get inspected once a month from the Regional Manager who basically tells you everything you're doing wrong. The RM also signs off on your reviews. I don't think the regional manager should sign off on anyone's reviews because how can you give an accurate review if you only see someone once a month? There's cameras everywhere and upper management watches everything like does the staff have their shirts tucked in or are their name tags on but they don't watch the cameras for important stuff like member situations/problems or things being stolen from the gym. But "Oh boy staff member didn't have his shirt tucked in write up" If you don't sound happy enough on the phone during the long infocall you had to give each and every time someone calls the gym you will be issued a write up. There is a lot of favoritism among employees and management which can make your life difficult if you're not a favorite. You are expected to "exceed expectations" but how does one exceed expectations with wearing their uniform or with covering extra shifts? You are expected to cover shifts and you're expected to wear your uniform so how can you exceed that? Planet Fitness will work you like a dog. The bigger Planet Fitness gets the less they care about their employees which is ridiculous since your staff is the front line of the operation. Planet Fitness definitely doesn't pay enough to get called stupid or an idiot because a member didn't read their membership agreement. Management usually sides with the member anyway. A member could spit in your face and they'll just overlook it but the minute you tell a member to refrain from using explicit language while talking to you all hell breaks loose. I do not recommend anyone work for this company. At least the franchise I worked for.

I worked at Planet Fitness full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work with great people. Positive in club environment. Free Black Card Membership.

    Cons

Overbearing, unorganized upper management team. You will never hear a thank you job scrutiny over mundane club operations. Ridiculous hours, sometimes you will work 60 - 70 hours. Call in's are frequent since you are working with (18 - 25) year old's most of the time. Don't plan any events or go to school. Schedule is impossible to track.

    I worked at Planet Fitness

    Pros

Amenities. Clean. Members are kind. Planet fitness offers great rates for membershipsale with amazing amenities.

    Cons

No compassion for health of employees from upper management. I was also told that I was doing a great job and there was not only ever single warning about anything I could improve on. I had a dental emergency, my shift was covered and I had a doctor's note......they fired me for taking care of myself after approving and stating that it was OK and that I had nothing to worry about. It was dishonest. The staff also speaks horribly about their guests. Examples would be things that slander or are mean spirited while guest walk away. Cursing about the customer because they need service, and complaint about the customer. It was upsetting get to witness. Then to top it off I was fired after receiving clearance for my emergency. It was humiliating, unexpected, and I feel like it was personal.

I have been working at Planet Fitness part-time

    Pros

it is a really easy job, working overnights is the best because the gym is slow. able to get homework done during downtimes.

    Cons

you are not seen as nothing more than a number, per se, in the eyes of upper management. There is a lot of favoritism involved but overall with immediate management employees are treated fairly.
