I have been working at Premier Research full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - The atmosphere here is dynamic and fast paced. No day is ever the same so no chance to get bored!
    - Travel and workload is less than my previous company. Expectations of employees here are more realistic, meaning a better work / life balance.
    - Management are interested in progressing employees. It seems that they want to retain good staff here.
    - Exciting time to be part of Premier Research.

    Cons

    - You cannot blend into the background here so there is no shying away from challenges / situations. People here are very much treated as an indvidual and you should be ready to have an opinion and make a difference.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what your doing! The company is in a really positive place at the moment.

    Pros

Good team work. Small company but closer work relationship. Attracts interesting projects from small and mid size bio pharma companies with innovative products. Projects were never boring.

    Cons

Hard work unappreciated most of the time.

    Advice to Management

Reward hard working staffs and don't be shy showing your appreciation, it is worth twice than boring appraisal paper work.

I worked at Premier Research full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, allows working from home, people overall friendly. When a position opened up, the company always tried to promote rather than hire new. The second in command at the office I worked at had started in the same bottom-level position I was in.

    Cons

Training was abysmal. First involved a week and a half of reading documents, many of which not relevant to your position. After that, taught software pipeline out of order, and didn't give any hands on time before giving a project, most of which consisted in checking rows of data in Excel.
The "developer" positions are actually just using their proprietary software to complete tasks. There's zero problem solving or coding involved; this is not a software job, no matter how much they claim differently.
Office is about as drab as can be; management thought it was a big deal that they were painting the support columns orange.
Most of day was spent waiting for tasks to come in, and management would frequently override your current task by giving you a new one, then later on asking why you didn't complete the first task.

    Advice to Management

Recognize what your company actually does, and advertise for jobs honestly. Realize that the workload you provide is not satisfactory for the amount of hires you've taken on. I left because the work I was doing was not satisfying, and was not what was advertised to me as a "developer" position.
Create a standardized training program to train new hires in the software pipeline, and then have actual hands-on time with software as part of training. Simply showing what buttons do and expecting employees to remember how to do everything in three distinct programs and multiple sites is not realistic.
    Dump Oracle.
