I worked at Pret A Manger full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Highly competitive basic rate with very generous bonuses

    Cons

They expect serious graft. If you don't enjoy hard work and early starts this isn't for you.

    Advice to Management

Never forget what makes Pret different as an employer or you'll stop getting the cream of the crop.

I worked at Pret A Manger full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

I really enjoyed working at Pret A Manger for 4 years! The atmosphere was amazing and we worked great as a Team. The customers were really friendly and they would make your day go quickly and smoothly. The hourly pay rate is decent and you get paid every Thursday which is great! I was allowed to pick shifts around my personal life and commitments! You are allowed free food and drink (free coffee is so useful in the morning)...

    Cons

The job was sometimes really stressful. Firstly, the full time staff had really early starts from 5am and the hours were extremely long. My colleagues who worked full time were absolutely battered in the last 2 hours of thier shift and it was so disheartening to see them go through this. Some of them were quite upset and stressed out. I was working part time so for me lunch time was a real pain. Sometimes, we had to make...

    Advice to Management

Give eveyone fixed timetables based on preferences. Employ good managers not the first person who walks into the interview room wanting the Manager job.

I have been working at Pret A Manger full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good food. Free coffee’s. Great people.

    Cons

When the shop doesn’t do well, because we ran out of something/sold out... we get marked down and loose the weekly £1 extra for each hour worked that week. Losing 35 is hard when on such low wages

    Advice to Management

Scrap the bonus and pay us the £1. We work reallly hard.

I have been working at Pret A Manger full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Free food and coffee & paid breaks Good pay rate Some lovely customers can make it very enjoyable I love working on the coffee and working as a team when everyone is working properly Most of employees with more than 2 years are excellent hard workers

    Cons

In the last 6 months everything has gone downhill, many new standards which make it difficult to focus on customer service and turns us into robots. New people are not being trained properly because the trainers are doing other things because we are always short staffed. Lots of young people joining the company which is great although many of them are very lazy and don't care. More experienced employees working double...

    Advice to Management

Take more notice of what is going on in your shops. My Ops manager has completely ruined the teamwork and family vibe of our shop (almost 8 people left in 6 months) and we are barely replacing the people who have left. Be careful or all the good ones will be gone and you'll be left with teams who don't care about customers or the company.
