Former Employee - Retail Assistant in London, England

    I worked at Primark part-time

    Pros

Good pay above NMW (London based) Fellow Retail assistant colleagues are very friendly

    Cons

Job is often repetitive, and because it is a busy store, one can spend hours tidying the same location for a lengthy period of time. Unpaid breaks No staff discount

I worked at Primark part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay rate, lots of other employees, optional overtime.

    Cons

Work too hard for the way your spoken to or treated. Sometimes they think this is the be all and end all of your life, for example I was also a university student whilst working here and they had unrealistic expectations of me to fully commit to this job as if I was going to further my career here in any way. The reality is it was a part time job and I definitely over committed to the role and had no appreciation for that. Expected to always say yes to overtime even if I’m running into 40+ hours over my contracted times. No care about our personal lives.
