Too big too fast

Pros

Many amazing colleagues who are collaborative, knowledgeable, and generous with their time, and genuinely want to make a difference for neurodivergent people and their families. Flexible working arrangements depending on role. Competitive salaries in some departments.

Cons

Workload and expectations can be very high and organisational change is constant. Communication around decisions, timelines, and business priorities is often unclear or rushed, which creates confusion and pressure. Role creep is a real risk; roles and responsibilities shift or accumulate faster than support or capacity. Staff are expected to just 'make it work' when concerns are raised. For a company that professes to care about and advocate for neurodivergent individuals and promote neuro-inclusivity, the disregard for neurodivergent staff and a robust reasonable adjustment process is deeply saddening.

Pros

Knowledgeable team (not that there is much opportunity to share this knowledge and actually engage in effective CPD). All the benefits a remote job brings. Pay is probably in top end for the area (although other places are now nearing comparable). Some attempts at neuroaffirmative language and ethos (if largely tokenistic). Supportive colleagues within autism team. It is generally a very good group of highly skilled clinicians which PS are at risk of losing.

Cons

Faffy processes and poor tech. I hear they’re looking to improve tech/admin processes with AI but not to improve staff-well-being. I imagine that’ll then mean doubling clinicians caseloads (clinicians who are already working over hours to keep up with the demands). Lots of complex adult cases. Very much a get on with it attitude if you raised suitability for online assessment as a concern. Clinical decision making often felt rushed due to demands of concluding in 1 day (when many cases need more time and consideration). Poor overall culture. Lack of understanding of the clinical working week from SLT. It’s essentially a conveyor belt of assessments and greed is at the centre of this. In all fairness to PS all companies in this area of work are like this- but I think what is disappointing is the constant hiding behind the facade of “helping people” and “making a difference”. Just be honest you want to profit from RTC and long waiting lists and staff well-being is not your main concern. Literally everyone is a member of management now- a way to keep staff compliant. Assistant TLs, TLs, Senior TLs and Clinical Leads…baffling. The only way forward with working for any of these corporate money-grabbing RTC companies is to become a contractor so you can manage your own time.

Pros

Pay great Colleagues wonderful Interesting Fast paced

Cons

Fast paced a negative and a positive - while enjoy the fast pace of work for the inexperienced can be daunting Lots of changes - but the government changes cause the need to adapt so change is reactive clinicians need to be prepared for the unexpected
