Pros

The experience to know that I never want to work in the property management business.

Cons

From the top down the environment leans on the side of bitchy, dramatic and gossipywhich only compounds the stress of working in property management. The type of work to follow one home. So many instances of unprofessionalism when it came to the client,,mostly distrust and utter disregard. There are many reviews of the company on Google, etc that are falsified by company employees. There were several instances where the manager did not like something and the tenant had to change if the tenant wanted to renew the lease.. The business is split in two sides, the management and the side that does repairs. Maintenance side does not see fit to update other office on client's questions, or will feed the answer(s) to the mgmnt side instead of talking to the client. This is very frustrating and extremely stressful when you have a client who wants to know the where and why of their maintenance issues and you can't help them. The office tells people to take pictures of their place before they move in so as not to get charged, but in most cases, the client is going to lose. While some of these cases are validated, there are others where clients were charged for complete nonsense. I could go on and on, but in a nutshell: don't work here. It's an awful work environment with only mild moments of normalcy.

Pros

All the pros I thought would be applicable ended up being cons.

Cons

They overcharge for maintainence by almost double. If you have 2 units that need new smoke detector instead of combining the work they will bill for separate calls, and separate milage. I was billed $210 to change 2 smoke detectors... Since they have an "in house" maintainence you will never get competitive bids. Moreover the maintainence and the management is owned by the same people so it's a massive conflict of interest and legally questionable practice. There response time is horrendous. Tenants would report issues and it wouldn't get addressed for weeks which makes for angry tenants. They also have a bunch of fees for the tenants which makes them not call for things like small leaks because they don't want to get hot with the management company fees. They are also just rude. Maybe their used to big clients and the 4 properties I had wasn't enough for them to care about but I rarely have met more miserable people than at PPM. They've been sued multiple times and now after using their service as an owner I know why. Paul Burrows is one of the most arrogant insufferable people I've had the displeasure of interacting with. If your an owner stay far away. There's plenty of other management companies that wont scam you with billing and will take better care of your building and tenants.
