I worked at Pulse (UK) full-time

    Pros

Nice office, few friendly individuals and nice chilled water.

    Cons

Pulse are the perfect example of why recruiters get a bad name. For an individual with confidence, from the minute I set foot into that place I felt intimidated and looked down on. The company culture is awful. A very dog eat dog environment where you can tell that everyone is in it for the money and for themselves. Even when you are greeted by the employees on your first day you can read right through their artificial...

    Advice to Management

See the longer game and potential in future employees. And rather than hiring and firing and wasting your own time and effort constantly re-training employees, respect the fact that each individual is different and become a more diverse firm instead of an arrogant short sighted one.

    Pros

    * work parties and Christmas party with awards. * Friday chill down drinks at the office * private health insurance- optional * direct contact with associates

    Cons

    * bonus scheme is not fair, prioritize teamwork instead of individual! * training needs improvement * no bonus during your probation period

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Whilst it's great to hear that the work parties, awards, private medical insurance and direct contact with the associates were pros whilst you were working here at Pulse, it's also very disappointing to hear about your concerns. ...

I have been working at Pulse (UK) full-time

    Pros

Nice friendly team around the office, that are there to support you, help you grow and develop within the company. Well structured training provided at the start of employment

    Cons

Although training is a a pro of the company, the longer you work for the company, the less meetings you have with your progress within the firm

    Advice to Management

No advice to give to management, it's a great company to work for, and I look forward to grow and pursue my career within the company

I worked at Pulse (UK) for more than a year

    Pros

Pulse provided company events, had a great Christmas party and is based in a great location! You generally can leave work when your contracted time is up. There seems to be opportunities for career progression e.g bookings consultant to recruitment consultant to senior consultant and then team leader (if you want to be in senior management though, it might be difficult to get there if you are from an ethnic minority)!...

    Cons

The commission. They tell you at your interview that you receive individual commission if you hit your targets and then when you start, they change it to a team target. Its ridiculous because even if you work hard and hit your target every month, unless everyone on the team hits the target, you get nothing! It is one of the reasons I left. You also get micro managed.... its like being in school... but if they like you,...

    Advice to Management

It should be the same rule for everyone. If I went to the loo for 2 minutes 30 minutes before I left, my Team Leader would complain to me. Yet others on the team were able to leave several times during the day for 30 minutes each time? Also, do what you promise in the interview- if you say someone will receive individual commission, stick to it!!

I have been working at Pulse (UK) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pulse put the client at the centre of the experience, retaining that focus at all times. As such, the organisation continues to grow, partly as the high standard of training leads to a highly capable workforce.

    Cons

As with many healthcare organisations, the training is unpaid.

    Advice to Management

As the training is of such a high standard, not being paid to attend can be mitigated. However, many of the staff live a considerable distance from training centres. Paying a contribution towards travel to training sessions would be a welcome gesture.

I have been working at Pulse (UK) full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Private health insurance - HR team are good here - Nice offices

    Cons

    - No internal career progression and no opportunity to extend your knowledge - No acknowledgement from senior staff for overtime completed - No opportunity to extend your career knowledge even when you present them with courses to go on - Seem more willing to bring in external staff who fail every time in my time than willing to promote within which has worked every time so far in my time - Marketing team...

    Advice to Management

Promote internally, I've had over 10 occasions now where they've spent alot more money bringing someone else in who leaves within a month because they can't cope. If they'd promoted the person below they would've stayed and done an excellent job of it I'm sure. The career progression works at a snail pace, no mater how many long hours you work and some of the senior management have no idea what they're doing when it comes...

I have been working at Pulse (UK) full-time

    Pros

Great progression, amazing management, great advise, chances to flag issues at work to management wiithout being a coward and putting it on glassdoor

    Cons

A handful of people who work here feel like they are entitled to more without putting effort in and then act like wounded animals when it doesn't go their way.

    Advice to Management

Be brutal to the indiviuals who feel that they are more deserving than the other people, but don't put any effort with their work as their are people who actually work really hard for their bonus! Keep up the great work, also I feel the focus groups should have managers in as people in the office need to grow a back bone and air their issues instead of complaining behind each other's back!

I have been working at Pulse (UK) full-time

      Pros

Pulse is always looking to improve itself which is great. The company always knows it has more in the tank which really drives me to succeed everyday at work. Certain support teams work really well and there are certain people within the company who really make you love what you do and really do fill you with inspiration! The training programmes need improvement, it would be great to have some help with that in branches. Also, it would be nice for all ideas to be explored by managers (within reason) as people on ground level really do have some valid points to help improve business and I don't think they should just be brushed to one side. Some of the support teams could do a better job with getting back to you at all or quicker rather...
