Pros
I've been working a Pyrofex for several months. Previously I worked for a very large company. Working at Pyrofex is like a breath of fresh air in comparison. * CEO and management are people oriented and truly try to keep employees happy. * Employees are provided with whatever resources are required to be successful. * Co-workers are smart, motivated people. That is a focus during the hiring process. * Diverse workforce * Located in a beautiful area with a moderate cost of living. * Opportunities for travel * Small company means little red-tape or bureaucracy. It's easy to get things done. * 100% paid health insurance
Cons
* Because it's a startup there is some insecurity * Much of the workforce works remotely, so you can't always interact with other team members in person. There is a lot of video conferencing, email, and instant messaging. * Timezone differences can result in odd working hours to interact with other team members. * There's little in superfluous benefits, e.g. no 401K etc.

Pyrofex has a deep respect for mathematics, and the potential for simplicity and stability that math can provide. The company expects you to complete your work, but doesn't expect you to work overtime. Since a lot of what we're doing is starting from scratch, we have a lot of leeway in the directions that projects can go. And we're pursuing interesting ideas that might just pan out!
Cons
This is a startup, so I always have a vague fear that things won't pan out, and I'll have to look for more mundane work. This fear is reinforced by the fact that we're working in blockchain technologies, a field infamous for having startups that flame out. Here's to hoping that this doesn't happen to us!
