Pros

QRails is a fantastic company to work for, for a number of reasons. It's company values are based on integrity, transparency & being ethical. You are also not micro managed but instead trusted to do the job you were brought in to do. QRails also prides itself in having a family feel which can be hard to maintain when you're a large & global company but the fabulous HR team & Senior Management team always work hard to ensure everyone is included & looked after. I am super lucky to be apart of this amazing team :)

Cons

There are no real cons. However, if you are used to working in large corporate organisations where decisions/ approvals take longer to make & everything is very structured, then a start-up life may not be for you. QRails is a fast paced environment like many other start-up's. Decisions and directions can change quickly so you need to be able to adapt to that. The attitude at QRails is that there is no job too big or too small for anyone

Pros

Salary is relatively competitive and tends to hit the glass door median but benefits and 401k are a lacking. Most employees are great to work with but overall it’s apparent there is a favorite clique. Good efforts were made to keep employees happy with events and outings but they eventually ran dry.

Cons

Feels like there are two main groups within the office. The is an inner circle that gets all the company news and information, and everyone else. If you’re everyone else, you constantly watch private conversations and whispers go around especially when the company was in trouble. Shares were promised as part of compensation packages but paperwork never materialized, only to be found that they only existed on a spreadsheet likely to never be paid out. In retrospect, offer letters seem to be intentional in leaving out the specific numbers and series of shares. We were lied to about the company’s financial stability, and ultimately resulted in mass furloughs of the overwhelming majority of the staff except for a skeleton crew required to be minimally operable and to maintain legal and regulatory compliance. Initially the furlough was planned for a few weeks, which turned to months. They were decent sending updates the first month but from what I hear, the updates haven’t happened in months and some are still sitting in limbo after most of the C suite were removed. Eventually there were many rumors and speculation of inter office relationships, frivolous spending, and high risk decisions being made that ultimately led to the near failure of the entire company. There are a few personalities of more senior employees that are difficult and don’t like hearing from more junior colleagues, who walk around with a chip on their shoulder making it difficult to propose suggestions or simply work with them directly. If have bills to pay, I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you happen to have a large savings and a morbid curiosity of now not to run a company, it may be worth joining to enjoy the show.

Pros

The work culture and pay were excellent! The product is cool and important for helping hourly and gig workers.

Cons

The combination of some questionable money choices at the top and pressures in the tech industry as a whole led to sudden layoffs (or indefinite furlough) for a large portion of the company.
