I worked at RAPP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great location, some really lovely people, potential for some interesting work

    Cons

The technical department in Crawley is its own P&L silo so they don't really act as a trusted partner to the creative agency in London which is obliged to use them. As a result their work is very expensive, often late and over-engineered which causes problems with the clients that the London team struggle to resolve. Some senior people in the account handling team are a bit too impressed with themselves and... prone to bullying behaviour. Partly because they have been in the same role too long and are very comfortable and partly because the behaviour doesn't get challenged internally.

    Advice to Management

Take away the monopoly that the Gatwick team have over the work coming out of London. Re-shuffle the senior account handlers onto different accounts.

I worked at RAPP full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Rapp do have an art in employing some great talent and amazing people. My first year at RAPP was great and things seemed to be on the up. The team spirit is there it just sometimes needs a boost. My manager was great and cared about the overall well-being of the team despite being constantly rushed off her feet. Some great clients to work on.

    Cons

Team morale is absolutely battered. Mistakes are focused on whereas good work seems to slip by without acknowledgment. Pay was pretty poor for the work and lots of promotion promises that never materialised probably because of higher management not giving approval. Senior management pretend to be caring when really they aren’t. They make very clear who the favourites are in the business and the rest are just... numbers.

    Advice to Management

Focus on all of your employees, not just the ones you THINK might be long term in the company. Don’t hide bad news from your employees it doesn’t look good. Value good work across all the offices, not just Bankside.

I worked at RAPP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Some nice people, free fruit one day a week, good location.

    Cons

The place is an absolute shambles from start to finish, was brought in to work on a new account and it was beyond chaotic. Management is bad, no one cares if you work late or put any hard work in. They only seem to focus on the negatives of what you are doing and none of the positives.

    Pros

One of the friendliest Agencies I've ever worked for. Almost without exception staff at all levels are helpful, welcoming and accommodating.

    Cons

As with any global agency obtaining financial sign-off can take time - but certainly not unique to RAPP

I have been working at RAPP full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There are a few good people still there who are trying to make it better.

    Cons

When I started working at the Rapp London office 4 years ago, it was full with talented staff, engaged clients and award winning creative. It is no longer recognisable. The general opinion of the London CEO is that he is there to send emails asking staff to tidy their desks and printer areas. When the quarterly redundancies take place he is nowhere to be seen. He leaves it to the senior management to tell the... remaining staff who conciquently laugh when they can’t pronounce the names of those that have been made redundant. Due to almost all accounts being in decline Rapp cannot afford to take many permanent staff. At a guess I’d say half the desks in the office are empty and a large number of remaining staff are freelance. All that being said, if you want an easy ride, this is the place for you. Turning up late and hungover everyday of the week is accepted, there is very little structure and no respect for senior management. Also its likely you’ll be working at 50% capacity as there is such little work coming through - hence the redundancies.
