Pros

The work is inside, there are long lunches at my location

Cons

I have been employed for exactly 1 month as of today. To date, I have accomplished nothing substantial and must seek out others to poach work off of them. I have received no procedural training of note until about three weeks in, which apparently just means plop you over in a corner and telling you to do it while walking away. I've worked on 2 projects for Sikorsky so far and on both sides, I've felt uncomfortable due to my gender a few times (inappropriate comments, looking down my shirt, etc.) Regularly, I am spoken over, interrupted, or told that "You'd struggle with this, so just let me handle it." The management team is very hands off, and despite bringing the issue to my manager multiple times, I still have nothing to do simply because I don't know how to do anything. When I ask around, no one else has anything for me to do either. There are no trainers, and it is expected that I develop my knowledge on my own. However, when I do attempt to do this, I regularly encounter obstacles via my lack of access to the systems I need to do my job, which apparently nobody thought was necessary to grant me a month in. I am told there is a learning curve, but it seems more like an unwillingness to train me by all parties, which is unfortunate since this is a full time 40 hour a week position. I am frequently on my phone or wandering around asking others if they need help. Nobody does. Actively looking for another job. This is easily the worst, most poorly constructed "training program" and job I have ever had. As a college graduate, I am disappointed by the fundamental lack of opportunity present here. Total fail. Qualified college graduates beware: few here have degrees, despite advertising that applicants ought to have them. If you're not in engineering, do not work here doing this. The pay is also not nearly enough to sustain the crippling debt of a college degree recipient, again, which is contrary to their assertion that applicants ought to be "qualified."

Pros

The RI office is a very laid back atmosphere. People care more about the work being done than the dress code, which is nice. It can be a really fun place to work. Joking on the job is actually almost encouraged as long as the work is getting done.. They hire people with entry level skill sets, so it's a good place to get your feet wet. They also seem to hire a lot of veterans, which is a huge plus.

Cons

Sometimes that laid back atmosphere crosses the line into inappropriate. A thick skin or earbuds can be necessary to get through the conversations around you at times. A coworker once let their rate of pay slip. I was appalled at how much less women were making than men for the same job (although no one seemed to be happy with their pay rate). Paid time off is a joke. No sick pay. If sick, you must use vacation time, make up time missed, take a short check, or show up and make everyone else sick and miserable. Workflow is not managed well, and everyone seems to know there's a problem, but all anyone can seem to do is shrug or point fingers.
