    Neutral Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at Renishaw full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Renishaw has really great chilled out and friendly employees. It's very relaxed but if you want to go at a fast pace you can. They encourage new ideas and they love making everything in house.

    Cons

The office is between Bristol and Gloucester so post work socials are rare and complicated. They are strict with working hours (or were before 2019 pandemic), you must start and finish at the same time everyday, a lot of engineering companies around Bristol do flexitime.

    Former Employee - Software Engineer
    Approves of CEO

I worked at Renishaw full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As an engineer, David McMurtry's achievements still blow me away, so I am proud to have contributed to his organisation in my own small way. Pleasant surroundings, the Gloucester site is a beautiful area. Miskin is clean, spacious, modern and very commutable from the South Wales area.. Renishaw still has one of the best employers pensions around. Some opportunity for interesting work. A wide mix of people of varied backgrounds and skills, most of whom I found to be both highly knowledgeable and personable. One or two I was around did not seem to shape up in the character department however (see Cons below).

    Cons

Some downsides of Miskin: absentee managers, which unfortunately left many engineers to "get on with it" which many did admirably (This was pre-lockdown). A number of people have clearly hung around too long, with the entrenched mindsets that go with it. Also one or two seemed to have a ongoing problem in interacting with others, fatal in a team situation. Thankfully my time spent with them was mercifully brief. The cherry picking of tasks happened way more often that it should have. There is room for improvement in the dissemination of knowledge. Too much knowledge is concentrated in the heads of too few people, I didn't really see much of an improvement during the time I was there.
