Dead end, low pay.

Pros

Mostly great coworkers, flexible schedule, good benefits (which they since cut, I was grandfathered into their good plan), BBQ's and fun Christmas party.

Cons

Low pay, no advancement or opportunities, everyone is overworked, when people leave they just redistribute the work to already overworked employees. A lot of the things they do is for show. I'd rather have good pay than a BBQ, to be quite honest. There's also no challenge after a while, aside from the massive work load. Their raises are nickles and dimes a year (roughly 2.5-3%... you'll never see $1 raise!) The managers literally *don't* care if you stay or go or if you're unhappy. They are borderline abusive and have told people they're stupid and couldn't go anywhere better if they tried. You can't ask for a raise or something different to do, they'll just tell you you're lucky to have a job. I left and couldn't be happier!

Pros

The insurance cost is insanely low, with comparable coverage to other plans I have been on. Half of what I was paying at another manufacturer. There are GOOD PEOPLE within the crowds that have external exposure and business understanding. The team members are mostly very friendly and hard working. You have your goofball, but there is no real "fear" for my safety anywhere at the plant. It does have a "family" atmosphere.

Cons

Each plant operates as a unique entity meaning good luck on standardization. Typical manufacturer - lbs out the door outweighs the proper approach the first time. We will get to it later... Lots of people in positions with no formal training and only tribal knowledge to pass it down. And we hope they are good at their job - before they train their replacement. The company has changed a lot (for the better) over the course of my 5 years but still seems backward. Old-school management styles still exist in pockets. We nod in meetings and forward facing - but behind closed doors... Many of the plants have some toxic undertones. Documentation is mediocre at best. Most manage levels down, vs. up. Accountability issues and favoritism have been known to exist.

Pros

Excellent healthcare program, growing company, regular investment in facilities, loyal to long-time employees, willing to experiment with new products and marketing techniques, non-union

Cons

difficult to attract and retain good employees due to low wages, inadequate change management, poor communication of expectations to personnel at plant level, plant management expected to perform as a world-class organization with sub-par non-salaried employees and lacking the tools necessary to motivate employees, lack of technical support. Reser's went from a company that no one had heard of to a company that no one wants to work for in just a few months.
