I worked at River Island Clothing full-time

    Pros

Great discount. Worked with some of the most astute retailers I’ve met. Very operationally savvy.

    Cons

Running on a business model that is no longer sustainable on the payroll budget in stores. Obsession with product handling and merchandising prevents anyone from making any real impact. Cons

Hard to get time off if you are not a level 2/management. No overtime. Rotas constantly appear on a Saturday evening for Sunday. Very demanding job role. Rotas are final, shift swapping is rarely approved and you must find your own cover before phoning in sick (at least 2 hours in advance of shift). A lot of physical work involved on delivery days- shifting large totes of stock. Management usually reluctant to interact...
