    Pros

    Cons

Work - life balance , unpaid management, upper management rude, untrusting to colleagues

    Advice to Management

After leaving they will try to claim back overpayment even tho you work to days of a month and the pay cut off is around the 10th of each , what a way to destroy christmas, and higher managemnt ( not store management )need to start praising , not destroy colleagues confidence

I worked at Robert Dyas part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly staff, full training, strong customer base, customer focused, teams evenings out.

    Cons

Rude managers, unrealistic expectations, no lifts so all delivery has to be taken up the stairs which is time consuming and exhausting.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your staff and customers, first impressions count, don’t give out jobs that you could do yourself, spend less time on till and more time helping your employees. Have more compassion for your staff.

I worked at Robert Dyas full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Occasional BBQ after payday - Free tea and coffee - Sample sales - 26 days holiday

    Cons

    - Advertised as a graduate role, but really just an admin role - Not great salary (if you want a somewhat respectable salary, join as an e-commerce assistant as they start on a higher salary, and get a raise after 3 months after probation whereas you won't). Lots of emphasis placed on the importance of the e-commerce function and website of the company currently - Apart from learning about Excel, you will not... learn much as long as you remain in this role, aim to move into a higher position as soon as possible - Role is split 50/50 between buying and merchandising, following a merge a couple of years ago, therefore not enough time to develop properly in either function as there are too many adhoc admin tasks on a day to day basis - Line manager will usually be a buyer within the team, so they are fully accountable for you, despite having no oversight of the merchandising function - Most of upper-management do not really care about you - No flexi-time (although e-commerce tend to be able to come in earlier and leave earlier, as their role requires independent work; complete a target of skus per day etc..., whereas this role requires constant communication with the buyer, merchandiser and suppliers) - Same routine week in/week out

    Advice to Management

If you want to retain trading administrators (a post with a high turnover rate), pay them a fairer wage and develop a proper training programme with actual progression
