I have been working at Robert Walters full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Atmosphere, only sales company I know where your colleagues want you to do equally well as they do individually. You get a lot of encouragement which sometimes you dont in other places -Not a hire and fire place, they give you time to build your desk and market -Very strong culture, not many idiots, which says a lot working in a sales environment -They encourage events and have a fantastic marketing team that enable you to produce relevant marketing material for clients and candidates alike -Good meritocratic structure. If you work hard and produce results it will be recognised

    Cons

The commission structure could be improved but if it was like other places it could also have an effect on the vibrancy of the firm and the team ethos culture that RW is built around

I have been working at Robert Walters full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Phenomenal experience being included in the International Induction Training where Robert Walters took us to the Brussels offices. Highlight of the trip was definitely the exposure to teams from across Europe and hearing all about the different markets and comparing strategies. World class training and wonderful dinner certainly can't be overlooked either.

    Cons

Giving the travel time it would have been great to have had an extra day of more targeted and specialised training.

I have been working at Robert Walters full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company to work for. The culture is very collaborative and everyone works really well together. Excellent training and perks including the opportunity to visit a European city for training as well as experience what it is like to work in another one of our offices around the world! I have been in recruitment for a long time, but RW genuinely care and look after all staff.

    Cons

No cons for me at this stage

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Robert Walters full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some great people (sadly soon to depart)

    Cons

New French CEO has introduced a capped bonus in a sales business and then applied it retrospectively - despite the ethics of this being on dodgy ground to say the least (allowing people to work a full 3 months before “revealing” new bonus calculation that will then apply on their past billings), this represents a departure from a contractual discretionary bonus model to one that is formula based - breach of contract? Staff are angry, upset and distraught to be treated in this way with many now financially vulnerable in the lead up to the Christmas period. Such a shame and a sad end to what WAS a great UK business - there is no coming back from this and mass exodus will follow with a total collapse in UK fee income.

I have been working at Robert Walters full-time

    Pros

    - Amazing people who all have some sort of life experience prior to RW and excellent sense of humour, noone too 'salesy' or sharky - Freedom to build your client and candidate network as you see fit - Amazing client entertainment events, inc sport and art eg. Twickenham Box, Ashes, Queens tennis, RWC sponsorship - Opportunity to travel abroad on charity partnership trip to Kenya - fully paid for volunteering trip to help build farms and water pans in one of the poorest areas of Africa - Travel to South Africa to meet relevant candidates and clients - Flexible working as/when required - Excellent progression opportunities regardless of your strengths - either through candidate management, billing or team management

    Cons

    - It's a team based environment which is great, but can mean that not everyone pulls their weight which affects bonus pools - No reward for bringing in brand new business, either for yourself or others - Limited incentive opportunities at senior management level

I have been working at Robert Walters full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Really progressive culture, with a management team committed to finding the best ways for you to progress in the way that you want. I joined the business as a Consultant with 2 years experience & have been given the opportunity to grow & establish my own team in a new market - which you just wouldn't get in a lot of recruitment businesses. Fantastic brand that's instantly recognisable An adult recruitment environment that isn't all about metrics & KPI's, but actually about output & billings A great marketing budget that gives you every tool to find common ground with clients & candidates & grow meaningful professional relationships Great overall salary package with lots of flexible benefits

    Cons

Some people in the past have struggled with the lack of structure around Business Development & the amount of freedom given to consultants to run their own desks. To be successful you need to be really committed to success & disciplined to follow up leads & opportunities on your own steam.
