I have been working at Royal London for more than 5 years

    Pros

In my honest opinion I feel Royal London offers more than just a job. From my own experience here are some of the positive points; Royal London frequently promote from within which is great, it gives everyone an opportunity to progress. I myself was promoted internally and given adequate training on the job. The company has spent a substantial amount on my development and training. When I first started out I didn’t have any professionally recognised certificates, 5 years and several training courses later I’ve Microsoft, VMware, Cisco and ITIL certificates to my name. Additionally I’m also a member of the British Computer Society and the best bit is I’ve not had to touch my own wallet once. There’s always some kind of social event going on be it a quiz night down at the local pub or a night out with the social club. The social club costs £12 a year (£1 a month if you’re that way inclined), that gives you access to a fantastic gym, nights out with free food and several free drinks not to mention free entries to competitions. There’s an internal recognition scheme which I’ve benefited from multiple times, rewards vary but as an idea I’ve had numerous £50 Amazon vouchers and 1 x £100 Amazon voucher. Frequent one to one’s with your manager to see how things are going. A great chance to get some feedback and get things off your chest. I feel like your opinion is actually valued and taken on board here, you’re not treated like another drone from sector 7G. There’s a bonus scheme here that really sweetens the deal. The bonus at my previous place of employment pales in comparison. I have brought friends and family to work here and they’ve gone on to do the same, in fact in the area I work there are 10 of us all from the same previous employer. I actually look forward to Mondays here (sacrilege I know). It feels like we’re going places, the company is growing and the future looks prosperous, I feel like my job is secure.

    Cons

I find myself having to put in extra hours here and there to ensure work is completed, this sometimes causes grief at home with my partner but that’s down to my own work ethic I’d still be doing this if I was at a different company it’s just sometimes work can overlap into my home life. People are way too fond of meetings here. The meeting rooms are always in use. I'm not a big meeting person myself. There are definitely more busy days than there are quiet days but that’s not always a negative. I work at the office in Wilmslow and unless you’re fortunate to live around here then you can expect a fair bit of traffic every day on your commute.

I have been working at Royal London full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Best place I've worked for, if you've got the minerals you can make a career here.

    Cons

Unfortunately some low life's have found crevices here, they somehow claim a job whilst contributing nothing to the business or our customers.
