I have been working at Royal Mail full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pay is above average Overtime availability Shift allowance Full time contracts 50 free stamps at xmas Some perks are okay Great, strong union - CWU

    Cons

Long hours. Norm 50/60+ hours a week, but subsidised by days off en bloc. No paid meal breaks Poor culture all around. Managers openly tell you that you don't do enough work, and when for whatever reason you are sick, you're pressured back to work Company is at the helm of a German who wants to union-bust. Caused share proce to drop from £6.30ish to £1.90ish. Says it all really... Complete mis-management at every level. Want to save every single penny on the one hand and modernise etc, yet throw literally MILLIONS of pounts at stupid, ill thought out projects; they change a way of working then revert back months later Considering this is a communications business, communication within the business is extremely poor.
