I have been working at S.A. Brain & Company part-time

    Pros

Training is thorough and builds up a confident person in anyone as long as you give them time to do so
They bring you into a fast-paced environment quickly but comfortably

    Cons

The only thing i was not happy about was the salary which is understandable with the staff turnovers

    Advice to Management

This may not be for all pubs and i can understand may be difficult but to organize hours that are suitable for everyone under employment

    I worked at S.A. Brain & Company part-time

    Pros

Get to meet a lot of different people, tips can add up to a decent amount when working in restaurant area of pub

    Cons

Low pay, tips are split evenly even when you're waiting more tables than the other staff, no breaks even when legally entitled to one working 8+ hour shifts, management is a disgrace and does not care about employees

  3. "Stressful"

I have been working at S.A. Brain & Company (Less than a year)

    Pros

Invests in staff training. Offers a lot of job opportunities throughout Wales..

    Cons

Limited range, controlling core products and gross margin. It determines pub viability, and as such, job security and community wellbeing.

    Advice to Management

    - Dissolve the beer tie.
    - Adopt an ethical code to stand by communities, not destroy them.

I have been working at S.A. Brain & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Passionate people that want to make a difference
Emphasis on fun with others when in work
People really want to get stuff done
    Exciting future plans

    Cons

Don’t believe in leadership team (CEO)
    Leaders poor at communicating
Still not enough focus by everyone on Retail

    Advice to Management

Get a proper comms plan in place and stick to it
Define the real priorities and get everyone behind them, instead of everyone doing their own thing
Listen to the people on the ground!

    I worked at S.A. Brain & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Worked with some great people.

    Cons

Long hours, illegal hours (19,20 hour days sometimes). Poor upper management, they just didn't care. They witheld owed pay to some employees, claiming that we needed to prove that we had worked those hours (it was all on CCTV that we had). They paid eventually, after people threatened legal action. All because the manager walked out one morning and there was no replacement for weeks.

    Advice to Management

Company needed to provide more personal support for houses which were in such chaos. Look after your staff and they will look after your business.
