Pros

I really can't think of any. There is nothing S7 had to offer that you wouldn't be offered by any other company. Some complain in these reviews about the long hours. While it's true, they do warn you of that before you take on the job.

Cons

Where do I begin? In reading some of the negative reviews I must say a majority of the negative content is legitimate and things I can relate to from having worked there. A recent review called out some of the positive reviews on here as posted by management. I happen to agree as some of those claims are complete bogus and just an attempt to win over potential employees who are reading the true facts of S7 in the negative reviews COO is a micro manager. He has no technical skills or knowledge and he try to compensate that by micro managing so he can feel important. He is extremely condescending yet he brings nothing to the table and just hides behind the CTO with every major decision yet he's the one the engineers have to report to. That makes no sense but maybe it's just me. As an engineer, I'd never want to work for a company where I have to report to someone I'm easily more knowledgeable than, someone who's just there to email every other day asking everyone to fill out their time sheets, or someone who talks big about security but yet knows nothing about it. The CTO is extremely knowledgeable but set in his own ways. If you have a great idea, it will be turned down automatically because it didn't come from him. Also the CTO lacks management skills and in some ways lacks maturity. Someone mentioned they were fired without notice. That doesn't surprise me as I've seen many let go without warning. Some of those were of the hardest working people who were putting in much of their time and effort outside of 9 to 5. These same people went beyond what was expected with the promise of a year end bonus only to be shown the door. The CEO claimed to me that he never fired or laid anyone off. That is a complete lie as I have found out they had let guys go before during and after my time there. So for any candidate who thinks highly of the year end bonus they boast about in the pitch for you to take the job, be careful. They have no problem getting rid of you with zero compensation for the hours you put in outside of 9 to 5. "Sr engineering is always there to lend an ear". That's comical. Their engineers are typically selfish, purposely refuse to document anything, and will blow you off. My first day I had a few questions on a particular technology which isn't commonly seen in IT environments. Instead of say maybe 2 to 3 minutes to answer a few questions, I was told to watch a 9 hour video and figure it out on my own. Not all but many of the engineers there are just out for themselves and purposely refuse to share knowledge for their own job security. The mind set is I/me, not we/team, kill or be killed. Usually when people are arrogant it's because they are great at what they do. S7 is arrogant yet they have nothing to be arrogant about. They scrape up the bottom of the barrel clients as a previous review indicated. They use outdated cheap technology rather than the better and more proven technology solutions. Their design is 15 years outdated. They don't offer what's required for the big time hedge funds. The way they act you would think they are the highest grossing MSP in the world. Recruiters who I have spoken to mention dislike of their arrogance and have stopped working with them because of the high turnover rate they have there. How they boast about outings and events is comical. I've worked else where have been treated with more in one weekend migration than my entire time at S7. Just like their selection in technology, they go cheap with their outings and events for employees.

We obviously weren’t a fit for you which is okay; we aren’t the right fit for everyone. We do however take pride in the reviews written by past and current employees and ensure you management had no involvement in those. We have very low employee turnover and have many people on our team who have been working here for years who are happy.

Pros

Straightforward and quick hiring process. Salary is paid on time and medical insurance (partially covered) is offered.

Cons

I would to address some very interesting points on review named "Great environment for learning and a great team." Lets count how many times hard work is mentioned: 1) "if you're serious about learning the IT business and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and work hard." 2) "There is never a shortage of projects and assignments" 3) Hard work does not go unnoticed or unrewarded. 4) "If you come to work (not coast/get by)" 5) "However if you're looking to simply coast and get away with doing as little as possible, this place is not for you." Yes, 5 times that review said they will work you to bone. Another reviewer described typical vacation details. Add 1+1 and what do you get? Even the management can't deny their work/life "balance" is way off the wrong side - "The work-life balance tends to skew towards the work end" Not skew, more like Fly/Elephant on scales if you know what I mean. Other things: There are a ton of perks - "frequent lunch-and-learn meetings" - I do remember the trainings (shown by other employees) on pretty convoluted internal tools. Don't remember lunches, but that regardless - how is this a perk? "Company outings (great bars and high-end restaurants)" - I am going on the limb and say this is "a bit" far fetched. Even on the remote project we worked for the client company graciously sponsored sandwiches (once) and few late night (think after midnight) beers. "Company picnics" - yes this one is true, I was invited, but couldn't make it to CEO's backyard bbq in Long island. Is this a Perk? football game tailgates, and a huge holiday party at the end of the year. - don't know about any of these, didn't had a chance. "Compensation is excellent" - comp is what you ask. It's MSP, not a hedge fund and they expect to get every drop of sweat from you. Lastly this gem: "Senior employees always have time to lend an ear, answer your questions, point you in the right direction if you show that you really want to learn." I can't count how many times I've asked for help from Sr. engineers only to get brushed off since they are busy working their own projects.

It sounds like your experience at S7 wasn’t the right fit, and that’s ok. Not every job we hold throughout our careers is the right place for us at that time.

Pros

It's a job, which you get paid. Is that considered a pro?

Cons

Boiler room pressure. You're expected to know everything from day one and you're expected to double (or even better triple) book your time or you get fired without any notice, like I was. Typical hires get two weeks vacation. That's all you get for a whole year. This includes any 1/2 days you need to do personal errands or doc visits. To add further insult - time off is accumulative and is non-roll over. You're expected to travel for remote extremely time consuming projects without any additional comp on regular basis. You're not expected to have any sort of work/life balance. any culture is a culture of fear and uncertainty.

We appreciate your opinion and we understand that S7 is not a fit for everyone. S7 strives on an open door policy, we are compromising and open to suggestions from our employees. At times, we do require travel to our clients while working on projects or technical issues that cannot be done remotely. Nothing goes unnoticed here at S7, employees are compensated in many ways, and we are thankful for all the work our employees put in. Along with our open door policy we are very flexible with our hard working employees and we wish you the best of luck!
