There are some very good people at SCC unfortunately they are stifled and unsupported or forced out especially if their knowledge is greater then the Senior Management Team.

During my time at SCC what I needed to be successful within my role was clear direction and strong leadership neither of which I received. I had come to realise that inflated egos, office politics and administrative incompetence would prove to be bigger obstacles to my success. These dynamics are not conducive to innovation and productivity. Due to ambiguous policies and procedures and the inconsistent application and enforcement of both, employees are deprived of fair and equitable treatment. The ongoing culture of bullying and intimidation from within the highest levels of the organisation makes it a challenging environment to work within for all those employees who face the same behavioural attitudes from the Senior Management Team and their immediate reports who are essentially nodding dogs who agree with everything and can never seem to form any opinion by themselves for fear of losing their jobs. Fortunately for me, I knew my worth and I am very well aware of the value I bring to a team. I refused to settle for any form of disrespect or maltreatment, particularly from individuals whose only credibility resides in their job title as opposed to demonstrated excellence and leadership. I’m positive my experience isn’t an isolated one. The turnover rates within SCC which has also been highlighted by several of thier own customers along with a lack of employee engagement and satisfaction are further evidence of SCC’s inability to attract, develop and retain talent. I could share more for the purposes of a review but I have little faith that an organisation which is rampant with nepotism and cronyism would take any information gathered and compile it to formulate any type of retention strategy.

Good base pay if you negotiate. Good customers to work with. Some good people. Some new offices.

SCC could be a great company but the culture and way employees are treated give it a one star. < 1% pension and no training for employees. It's the only reason the company make a profit. No yearly pay rises, each employee has to ask for a cost of living rise each year which can take way to long to get through and a lot of chasing. Obsession in Professional Services with billable time. There is no strategy or discussion in the teams about what we are working towards. Sell it and thou shall deliver seems to be the only moto. Focus of management outside of PS appears to be on sales staff, delivery staff seem to be something they have to reluctantly deal with to make sales. Staffing levels kept to bare minimum which puts undue pressure on existing employees and disappointed customers. HR have no teeth, raise anything about pay or conditions and they refer you to directors in the business. Seems they don't bother with all the feedback on here, there is no employee surveys, presumably no one wants to hear or deal with anything. Internal IT systems are shocking, we don't even have Office 365 rolled out or single sign on, internal projects sacrificed for profit. If your laptop breaks don't expect a replacement any time soon. New projects to roll out AX are to little to late. Half of SCC don't know the other half exist and there is no easy way to find out. Management should be given time to manage rather than fighting fires.

Pros

Working in sales at SCC can be very rewarding if you work hard, smart and achieve results. The company has a clear strategic direction, including the growth of it's Managed Services portfolio through acquisition/partnering with other companies. SCC is a company that isn't scared to make changes in its strategic direction as well as internal staff/teams. There's a culture of learning with 'skill pills' to ensure we understand our capabilities and how to articulate to our customers. I've received 2 pay rises in the past 3 years and the commission structure is good. Better employee reward schemes with discount purchases and more recently ability to purchase additional holiday days. SCC rewards it's top performers with annual trips to fantastic destinations (New York, Barbados, Cape Town, etc) and monthly SCC Champion awards with weekends away. Again, work hard and you will benefit from these schemes. Finally, there are some very good people working for SCC and have made many new friends.

Cons

Sometimes we're a victim of our own success with all the new business wins. Need to ensure that we have the capacity to successfully deliver and satisfy all of our customers.
