I worked at SCC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some great people - helpful, willing and supportive.

    Cons

Draconian working environment with very poor benefits compared to other similar companies. Employees at all levels not trusted to do their jobs and managers are made to micro manage, Bullying culture with employees worried about being on senior management radar for any minor perceived 'misdemeanour. Birmingham centric organisation - employees are expected to travel to Birmingham from satellite locations for meetings and visibility, video conferencing not encouraged despite selling workplace productivity services to customers. Management perception is that if you're not in Birmingham, you're not working and they make no effort to be inclusive. High attrition rates but senior management not concerned, constant cycle of recruitment. Many new people leave very quickly but there are many people that have been there for years.

I have been working at SCC full-time

    Pros

Great people throughout the organisation with some impressive innovative ideas

    Cons

Management mind set means failing to adopt new ways of working and most appropriate sales/marketing tools, meaning response to COVID was poorly co-ordinated and didn't learn from its competitors

I have been working at SCC full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I've worked at SCC for many years and seen much growth and many positive changes. It continues to be run as a family business which makes you feel more than just a 'number'. There are many positives: * First & foremost ... There are some great people at SCC * Onsite staff restaurant with a great range * Free parking * Holiday purchase scheme * Volunteering day * Dress down Friday * Inter-company benefits e.g.. staff discount on Eden Hotel Group * Healthy Employee * Cycle to Work scheme * SCC Champions * Great selection of internal training courses

    Cons

The location of Head Office isn't the best & the commute is busy

I have been working at SCC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - There are some great people that work at SCC. Despite all of the cons I've listed below, the main thing keeping me at SCC is that I like the team I work with. There are many caring and hugely competent staff who I can rely upon to 'have my back'. This is also true of some mid-level management, but unfortunately this goes no further up the chain of command. - There are progression opportunities within SCC (with a caveat listed in the cons below).

    Cons

    - Directors believe in 'bums on seats'. If you're not in the office, you aren't pulling your weight...despite the fact that many roles can be performed perfectly remotely. If you are looking for a progressive company with modern working practices, then SCC is not what you are looking for. Even with the Covid-19 pandemic far from being over, the directors are bringing staff back into the office as quickly as they can. Instead of practising what they preach to other organisations, SCC would rather remain inflexible and stick to archaic working practices that many other companies are leaving behind in the post Covid-19 era. - Yes, the salaries are reasonably competitive, but the other benefits such as sick pay, pension are not - the overall package is not great. It is common practice within SCC to be required to work for 6-12 months when promoted to a new role with no additional remuneration. The company will happily give competent staff more and more responsibility without additional compensation for as long as possible. - There is a large disconnect between senior management/directors and staff, with a fear of reprisal from HR/upper management for many staff who feel that they wish to give critical feedback. There is no 360-degree review mechanism in place for subordinates to provide honest feedback. There is a lack of compassion/empathy from senior management and HR when it comes to their staff, and the time is not taken to make people feel valued. It is the people that make a company, but for SCC profits are more important than people. - Investment in staff through training is below par, especially considering SCC has partner status with many of the large names in the IT industry.

    I worked at SCC full-time

    Pros

A lot of great people work there, great teams and although the systems are dated, the processes are great

    Cons

Very difficult to get any pay rises, increased benefits or anything that is out of the initial basic package, management do not want to support or encourage progression. HR treat people awfully

I worked at SCC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Everyone on my site where great people apart from management and higher

    Cons

I got forced into a storesperson role when I came into the business as admin. Previous storesperson salary were higher but there was more work than the previous years. The only thing my line manager was good at was micro managing and putting everyones team spirit down and he was sexist. I went through the HR team in which they were only concentrating on covering for their awful management. I had my managers put me down for mental health when they were the reason my mental health got bad (I got told to toughen up) HR completely igorned that when I complained. I can honestly say this is the worst place i have worked in my working life. I wouldnt advise anyone to work for this company. No health and safety checks where done on my working environment. This company does not care about you or your wellbeing! Also HR were referring to policies that were out of date. No one at scc knows what they are doing. Just got to look at the W10 migration to know that SCC does NOT make IT work!

I worked at SCC full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They pay higher than other IT companies of its size Some great people working here

    Cons

The pay is 15-25% higher than other companies and this will get you through the door. Don't be fooled, the staff turn over is so high that they will throw money at you if they need to fill a role. They literally treat you like dirt, throw you in the deep end, under a bus and anything else they can throw at you they will. The Management is a flat structure so things get to the top very quickly bcos there is no management support in between. The HQ is in Birmingham and i visited there once a week which is was always worth the visit as all the service lines and support teams are based there. The environment is toxic in this company. people are always pointing the finger, changing the rules. The left arm didnt know what the right arm was doing most days. I didnt last long, and i am glad about it, it wasnt a great experience at all and i have been in IT for 30 years so i have been around the block. Give this company a wide berth, there can never be a good outcome from working here
