    Pros

Very good management makes it a positive and slightly relaxed work environment, very good flexibility as choose what hours to work. Receive very good staff benefits, given work van and all tools and equipment needed to carry out work. Very health and safety conscious. Pay is good and bonus' can be big and are easily achievable monthly if you are willing to put in the work.

    Cons

Since starting work here 6 months ago i haven't got a bad word to say and no cons to working here

    Advice to Management

Pay is good as is however i feel there should be some negotiation as to where your salary starts within your pay band

I have been working at SSE as a contractor

    Pros

    Own van, some flexibility, bonus

    Cons

Bad management. Manager who expects over 100 reads per day, which is not possible. He will then txt you every morning before work asking why you did not achieve the 100 plus reads. Yet when you do well, you get no txt or praise.

Bullying culture for new workers. Managers leave the permanent workers alone yet if you are one of the new guys, expect to be bullied.

Different salaries for the same job. Permanent meters readers are on upto £21,000, 12 month fixed term guys on £16,000 and agency guys on a hourly pay rate. Crazy to have 3 different salaries for the same job.

Work routes are not thought out either. You could work on 3 small packs of 100 jobs which are all on the same streets. Yet by putting them in 3 small packs, it makes getting 80% in each pack harder than it would if they were in one big pack.

Monthly routes are even worse. Driving over 30 miles for one read. Pointless.

The HHU does not log any call backs/refused access/no access. So you then have to log all loss time. Why not just log it? G4S/E.ON/N.Power all do.

Having to download your work all night but then still txt your stats off to a manager, then again fill out a time sheet with the same details on. Again, SSE overkill.

    Advice to Management

Stop bullying your workers, make the pay fair and plan the work a lot better.

Stop expecting the meter readers to perform miracles.
