I worked at STA Travel full-time

    Pros

Bonuses were initially good if you performed well, you could be getting £1k a month bonus fairly easily and top sellers were getting £3k+ extra. However this has recently changed and a hard working month could result in you getting nothing or £100-£200. Not worth the stress!! There were a fair few freebies out there, though this wasn’t from STA directly and was usually provided by other suppliers. Some good social events.

    Cons

They just didn’t seem to care for their staff. I had booked a trip worth $12.5k with them and when it call go cancelled due to covid-19 they refused to refund me. I understand this has happened to many, but to do this to your own hard working employees really took the biscuit. Disgusting treatment of their staff. Staff were regularly over worked, acting as customer service assistants, receptionists, accountants, sales persons, cleaners and much more. All for minimum wage. If you didn’t hit your target it was a lot of hard work for sweet FA.

I worked at STA Travel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you have a passion for travel, you'll meet some great, like-minded people. The office is in a great location, near shops, parks and the underground.

    Cons

Management provided no feedback or strategy. No idea what our manager did, apart from steal the credit for successful ideas and blame us for unsuccessful ideas. It was discovered that management also asked individuals to compete against each other, rather than working as a team! Craziness!

I have been working at STA Travel full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1) Amazing perks i.e. FAM trips to places like Australia, Thailand etc. all paid for along with free & discounted trips 2) Progression is encouraged and you are given a lot of training and help with progressing through management 3) Working with amazing people and getting to meet fellow STA employees from around the UK and around the world 4) Fun work environment 5) Bonus scheme is brilliant for travel experts

    Cons

Really there is no cons of the job, only that the work life balance is quite tricky to manage with it being a targeted environment you feel like you want to be at work and earning money all of the time but they do encourage you and give advice on the work life balance, it's just hard to manage when you are money driven.
