I worked at STA Travel full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

there are no pros for loyal staff

    Cons

taking loyal staff for granted, pitiful pay rises, poor rates of pay, well below the industry standard. overlooking senior staff for promotion in favour of inexperienced staff elsewhere in the business. communication with senior management non existant. if you are thinking of joining the travel industry avoid STA at all costs.

    Advice to Management

Stop listening to the lies of line managers and look after your senior staff in the UK. hopefully brexit will kick in and what goes around will come around.

    Neutral Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at STA Travel full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Travel perks, commissions were often okay if you could hit the targets

    Cons

Doesn't value staff like they should. Saw many young people be chewed up and spat out by the STA machine over the years. Management techniques from the very top led to many issues with the mental health of staff.

    Advice to Management

The management when I was there was beyond appalling. I believe the main culprits have since been moved on, however the emphasis on sales targets with young people didn't take into account that constant pressures burn and break people, and the main reason I decided to move on was there was little to no effort being made in terms of staff wellbeing. Giving out free stuff all the time isn't the key to happiness and... engagement, despite what you may think.
