I worked at STA Travel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you have a passion for travel, you'll meet some great, like-minded people. The office is in a great location, near shops, parks and the underground.

    Cons

Management provided no feedback or strategy. No idea what our manager did, apart from steal the credit for successful ideas and blame us for unsuccessful ideas. It was discovered that management also asked individuals to compete against each other, rather than working as a team! Craziness!

    Cons

Really there is no cons of the job, only that the work life balance is quite tricky to manage with it being a targeted environment you feel like you want to be at work and earning money all of the time but they do encourage you and give advice on the work life balance, it's just hard to manage when you are money driven.

I worked at STA Travel full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Energetic and passionate staff, potential for big brand

    Cons

Poor re-numeration, meaningless job titles, no customer focus, outdated systems and technology, private owners culling staff, poor strategy and leadership

    Advice to Management

Try to rebuild the company around what the customer actually wants, treat your staff better or find a buyer who can do that before another travel brand goes the way of Thomas Cook

I have been working at STA Travel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Would like to say there are some, there are none.

    Cons

Abusive culture, poor training from management. Don't care about you as a person or how they sell to customers, they just want sales. Working long hours for no extra money. Working extra days for no extra money. On less than minimum wage when worked out per hour.

    Advice to Management

Ditch the pyramid scheme, if you want staff to be happy try motivating them instead of being lazy and expecting them to do all the work for you!

I worked at STA Travel full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Travel Incentive trips, the cool people you'll work with, the ever changing environment and team spirits. It's a great company to meet people and socialise in - of course depending on which store you're in!

    Cons

Terrible pay and sales targets take the joy out of travelling for you - You can make good money here, if you don't mind selling some of your morals and convincing people to take expensive trips whilst adding on all the extras which many can't afford - just keep in mind, it's not a job about how much you love travelling, it is a sales role after all.

    Advice to Management

You need to find a way to reduce your staff turnover - create more progression for people within your stores and get them involved in other aspects of the business such as marketing and creating local partnerships because this will add value to their role and job satisfaction. For goodness sake, drop the NVQ's you make new staff do - they're totally a waste of your company time
