Pros

At lower levels, pre Santos-takeover, there are some hardworking staff. Unfortunately, they are likely to get blindsided by the incompetence of the higher-ups.

Cons

Stay far away from this organization! They may boast that they are "rebuilding" but it is likely they will either go out of business or merge. You can't trust the leadership or the (non-existent) strategic vision. There is clear signs of deception and incompetence starting with the current CEO - Santos Vera, who joined in Oct 2022, - and throughout the current leadership staff. Since Santos took the helm everything has gone downhill fast. This may be due to the fact that Santos clearly has no idea how to run a business. He joined Stride there was a mass exodus of the Executive Team and senior leadership. In response, Santos promoted or hired individuals who are not qualified to fill a senior role (resulting in incompetence across the board), decided to fill both CEO and COO role (taking both salaries), relying buzz words and hostile retaliation to get his point across and ignored sound, strategic advice and input. After about 6 months of this, he has been MIA. Not seen in meetings instead, he sends his staff to deliver and collect his messages. Senior leadership that has allowed this behavior is just as culpable of the steep decline. Additionally, there are clear signs of financial trouble all across the organization, (even though senior leadership boasted that it was in a strong financial position in Spring 2023 at an all staff meeting) with a strong suspicion that this coming from mishandling of money. There is no transparency regarding budgets. No one below executive leadership is allowed to look at budget sheets. Also, a "cost saving" round of layoffs (approx. 25 staff) occurred in April 2023. Those who were not laid off were "allowed" to apply for half as many jobs some cut down by title and at least 20% less money. Then, on 8/4/23, another round of layoffs occurred. Another 25 staff were laid off, including some were "saved" by this realignment ploy in April. This time, this group received no severance and were informed on a mass HR call at 4:30pm after receiving an invite at 4:15pm. When HR or supervisors were called to inquiry about details or reasons behind the layoffs, those calls went unanswered. Unfortunately, the patients and the Denver community are going to be the ones who suffer when this place completely falls apart. STAY AWAY! It is not the place to build or grow your resume or use your talents or skills.

Pros

This is a good place for MA’s and recent grad nursing students to get their feet wet in healthcare. Other than that, this isn’t a place for long term employment.

Cons

Unfortunately, STRIDE has claimed to be “changing” since the new executive team came into place. The management is a group of people who have not learned leadership or managerial skills. They have been promoted, not because of merit, but because of strong cliques up top. This is the most startling statistic, and if this isn’t enough to keep you away from STRIDE, I don’t know what is. There was a mass exodus of ~60 healthcare providers, along with the ENTIRE Human Resources team leaving, in the years 2023-2024. The HR team was fed up and realized STRIDE will never change. The providers were not aligned with STRIDE’s business modeling to patient care. STRIDE loves to market their mission as “patient centered,” when it is really the complete opposite. The health center is in financial turmoil, so the “patient centered” care that is on their social media is a complete farce. STRIDE gave providers unattainable visit numbers to churn and burn through so many patients throughout the day, so much so that the standard of care is in question for these patients and downright dangerous. Throughout all of these people leaving, STRIDE’s way of looking at it was, “well they don’t belong here anyways, don’t let the door hit you on your way out,” not listening to its people and healthcare providers (most of them with much higher accolades than the half the executive team has). The executive team should humble themselves, admit they’ve made mistakes in how they treat people, and redirect, but instead they lost many good healthcare providers there at STRIDE for decades, along with an entire Human Resources team that tried hard to be on people’s side, but essentially gave up. The amount of deception and greed here runs deep here and it is a matter of time before lawsuits begin for STRIDE. If you are considering this place for a long term stint, there’s a reason why everyone leaves. It’s not just a tough underserved patient population that burns people out. You will also have management and executive team that is working against you and does not listen. It is a wonder this place is still in business. Just close up shop. Eventually, STRIDE’s reputation will be unsalvageable. Get off the train that’s on fire before it crashes.

Thank you for your feedback. While we recognize that no organization is without challenges, we are surprised and disappointed to see a provider portray STRIDE in this way. Our team remains deeply committed to serving our community, and many dedicated providers, MAs, and staff continue to deliver patient-centered care every day. While change can be difficult, we are focused on evolving in ways that best support both our employees and the patients who rely on us. We appreciate your time at STRIDE and hope you’ve found a place that aligns with your goals.
