I worked at Saffery Champness full-time for more than a year

    Pros

These were the best couple of years of my professional life so far. I had an amazing experience working in the London CT team who were very supportive, kind and professional. When I compare this to my experience at Big 4, Saffery's comes miles ahead. The range of clients is very broad, I had an opportunity to specialise in their film and tv tax credits offering, which gave me a unique insight into the latest productions, as well as the opportunity to go to the Cannes Film festival and a major movie premiere in Leicester Square! Grades below AM get paid over time (or you can take it as TOIL) which is rare, amazing and extremely helpful for when you want to take extended study leave. The team is extremely capable and generous with their time. I received fantastic training on the job which helped me grasp complex areas of corporate tax.

    Cons

Holiday entitlement is low, pay structure is quite uneven and not transparent.

I worked at Saffery Champness full-time

    Pros

The office is full of friendly helpful people

    Cons

No training when you join the role and are forced to learn from out of date documentation

  4. "High Wycome Branch - Female partner needs disciplining"

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Saffery Champness full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Can't think of any positives

    Cons

Extremely unprofessional, unfriendlyl female partner working at High Wycombe branch. Does not appear to like female trainees, gave no support or positive feedback to me throughout my time there... appeared to want to set me up to fail and was extremely patronising when I indeed failed my most recent of exams. Consequently fired me with no hesitation, ending my dreams of becoming an accountant!

I have been working at Saffery Champness full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Culture- the firm says it is collegiate and it really is. Partners meet regularly as a group and are not precious about referring work to other partners instead of keeping it on their own book. There is a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere- numerous socials throughout the year and team training days off site help to ensure everyone gets the chance to get to know each other, across the various offices. Lots of people work flexibly and the support for progression has been excellent.

    Cons

Technology has lagged behind in the past but a lot of investment has been going into this in recent years and improvements are taking place. The parental leave used to not be very generous but has recently been enhanced.

I have been working at Saffery Champness full-time

    Pros

    - As a trainee you generally work 9 to 5 and overtime is recognised. You can either be paid for it or take time off in lieu. - The people are great. - The partners are very approachable and you have a lot of contact with them from an early level. - Opportunity to work for a different client almost every week and across many different sectors.

    Cons

    - Although you get more holiday days as you progress, you only get 20 days annual leave as a trainee.
