I have been working at Saga Group full-time

    Pros

Been working for the company for over 20 years. Left for a couple of years and missed it so much came back to work here. Been back now for over 15 years. Its caring, friendly and sociable. There is so many ways you can progress, what you put in you will get out. The company believes in its customers and its not just lip service, the Staff really care about the customer which is so refreshing, and our senior management believe in ' Customer always comes first, the profit follows' a recipe for success.

    Cons

Change happens often, so you need to be positive and have faith in the reason the change has happened.

I have been working at Saga Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good social role and can be a fun environment to work with good opportunities to promote yourself within your role to increase pay and commission.

    Cons

Senior management are purely focused on shareholder profits and customer satisfaction, and this comes at the sacrifice of employee engagement and happiness. The company will side with the customer on any decision even if the customer has been racially abusive to the employee and then complains that they didn’t like the service received. As a result the company expects you to be willing to be insulted and abused in the quest for making them money. This goes hand in hand with tough and on occasions impossible commission targets which are expected to be achieved.

I worked at Saga Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Benefits, health insurance, share incentive, nice people,

    Cons

Management, especially the leadership team have no idea of what is going on a ground level. Customers are no longer the main focus since becoming a plc, it’s all about the profits which in turn is resulting in customers being lost sbd staff being made redundant, 300 plus in the last year. Staff are not treated equally in terms of sick pay etc. Again this depends on your relationship with manager. Many managers are unable to separate friendships from work. Call centre can end up in HR for being late a few times, favourites in other teams can be late, not show up at all with no action taken. There is very much a blame culture, middle management are scared to tell senior management what the position/issues are. Promotion/not getting made redundant is very much based on who you know/are in a relationship with! Half of some teams made redundant, the remaining half are expected to double their workload. Reason given for this was that staff levels increasing when customers are decreasing, it should not have taken so long to figure this out. To be told that this is what is going to happen from now on was insensitive. A lot of the really good senior management left last year, did they know something we didn’t?! Annual bonus almost non existent.

    "Started off well"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Saga Group full-time

    Pros

Good staff, good facilities and infrastructure

    Cons

Weak leadership, managers are out to further their own career at the expense of anyone in their team. Senior management created new job roles for middle managers every year, thus adding more and more layers of management

I have been working at Saga Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of different roles. Good place to start your career. Some really good people work here already.

    Cons

They care about nothing but shareholder profits as the recent round of redundancies shows. The company is making a huge profit each year but any opportunity to do a cull is undertaken with apparent relish whether or not it is needed. People disappear regularly. It's like Stalinist Russia. Even if you take a recently advertised role it's no guarantee of keeping your job. They pretend to be trying to be the best employer in Kent but they have no chance. Oh and the pay is rubbish too. Plus the senior management are on ridiculous salaries whilst telling staff they have to cut the cost base!
