I have been working at Sage full-time for less than a year

      Pros

A real genuine feel that people want to do a great a job and support one another. A real commitment to development, learning and improving experiences for both customers and colleagues alike.

      Cons

A complex business to get your head around at first with global and regional approaches.

      Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing as it's working so far! Keep the energy and keep listening and learning.

I have been working at Sage full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good salary, flexible working and moving in the right direction albeit slowly.

      Cons

Process delays everything. Central approach to strategy and messaging which falls down due to inconsistent product lines, GTMs and external market factors in some regions.

      Advice to Management

Allow regions to have more control over their plan. Invest more resources to create a consistent product stack and approach for key markets.

I have been working at Sage full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Stability and longevity of a mature company, but agile enough to compete alongside tech startups. Good emphasis on innovation and more autonomy than you'd expect from such a big company. For many roles, 35-hour workweek (in the UK) with core hours of 10-4 and the expectation that 5 of your daily 7 hours are main work and the remaining 2 are admin and other tasks — very reasonable expectations and promotes a good...

      Cons

There are a LOT of systems and processes to get your head around. It can take years. Product development can be slow and frustrating in some areas. Open office spaces suck. It can be challenging to introduce new processes and ideas because of all the legacy code, technical debt, hoops and policies.

      Advice to Management

Make the vision and mission statements clear and concise and post them on the website so that everyone can see and know. Keep streamlining, simplifying and strengthening the core products, processes and propositions. Don't be afraid to be increasingly more transparent, honest and vulnerable. We're all people and we can handle it. Futhermore, we'll respect you for the strength it takes and the empathy it inspires.

I have been working at Sage full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

      - Said a million times on here but Sage is full of amazing people who'll do everything in their power to help you - It's now a truly global organisation and working with colleagues from different cultures is inspiring - We've got great working environments, regardless of whether some buildings are more luxurious than others. We're lucky, believe me - Steve Hare is genuinely making a difference. There's been a change...

      Cons

      - Our real differentiator, our service, is struggling. We need to apply the same control over priorities here as the rest of the business. Do the basics really well and we'll be back on track - It's really tough to unravel some customer experience issues due to the (self inflicted) complexity of the business - We seem to struggle to deliver product innovations at pace, and with quality. Can feel like we're perpetually...

I have been working at Sage full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

The people who are engaged and want to do things well greatly outnumber the people that are just turning up. Good rewards above and beyond the basic, pension and commission. Opportunities available for development and growth if you are both ambitious and capable (nothing is given on a plate). Some exceptional leaders (some mediocre but there is far less of them) throughout the organisation and recent work by the...

      Cons

The business is in transition to becoming a SAAS company and the uncertainty associated with change has on occasion been mismanaged. If you can't handle uncertainty or a culture which is usually high challenge & high support it can be tough. Simplification of job levels in some (not all) areas means personal development isn't always rewarded and if you are not driven or rely on the organisation for development...

      Advice to Management

The pace and the quality of technology improvements for the operation have been slow and global project teams either need to be less global (get off skype and into the operations more) or more delegation is needed to local teams to ensure solutions are fit for purpose. Recent progress has been made but again improvements can be made to the L&D functions by empowering and investing in local functions or paying more...

I have been working at Sage full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

I’ve worked at Sage for 12+ years, straight out of university. Starting with supporting customers with use on our software for a few years, I’ve also worked in development teams and led different applications as a Product Manager. Plenty of opportunities for hard working individuals. • Great benefits and many opportunities for learning and career planning, including 5 personal development days and 5 volunteer days...

      Cons

Over the last couple of years, we seem to have implemented an austerity programme where to reduce costs we don’t, for example, naturally backfill roles when good people move onwards and upwards, this puts extra pressure on teams. Having said that, we appear to have come through the cost cutting and regained our focus on doing the right thing and making space to innovate again. A frustration for me is decision making...

      Advice to Management

In my opinion, historically our best leaders and most talented people have started their careers in Customer Services, serving our customers, learning from them and carrying that knowledge and empathy throughout the business during their Sage careers. Put simply, I think we need to grow our Customer Services teams again with extra capacity to serve our customer today and develop them to be the leaders of tomorrow. To...

I have been working at Sage part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Great culture, interesting and varied work Big effort being made to talk customer, colleague success and innovation. Needs concerted effort to translate into business change Opportunity from becoming part of Big Sage Flexible working environment Good benefits

      Cons

Still some post acquisition bedding in needs to take place Clear direction needs to be re-established locally. Recent changes will support this.

      Advice to Management

Things are set up nicely for success. Keep doing this and the changes across the organisation will come

I have been working at Sage full-time for more than a year

      Pros

I’ve worked here for nearly 2 years. In the last few months there has been a lot of positive changes with more focus on people. I like that management are making changes in areas that have been fed back.

      Cons

Some of the office need updating. Need healthier food options and the gym is a bit old.

      Pros

Great Colleagues who keep me going every day. I find the pace of change a little daunting at times but feel that the new renewed focus is helping me prioritize and challenge more. The great thing is there is never a lack of ideas and desire from anyone to make things even better, it's more about how we can manage to tackle the important things first. Cons

Can be hard to understand the business / matrix of teams to engage with and can get political sometimes.

      Advice to Management
