I have been working at Saint-Gobain full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great business, Great people and Great new growth strategy. The first six months have been a real eye opener to how this business works and how many brands are involved and how they come together. The people are passionate and very customer focused. ive been lucky enough to have been given all the support needed from my colleages in order to get up to speed with the day to day operation of this branch.

    Cons

More time needed for learning on specific products and processes. New ICON system seems to be taking time to settle.

    Advice to Management

My view is from what I have seen. Extra support needed for employees that are struggling to adapt to change. take the time to listen and share the concerns of employees with the wider business.

    I worked at Saint-Gobain full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Offered a genuine chance for people to gain a foothold within the IT sector. In the main, a good team ethos on the desk.

    Cons

Clear have/have not divide. Very little of which seemed to be based on ability at the job but more based on (mostly false) assumptions of character. Relentless environment, with no time to think nor complete tasks to a satisfactory manner. Often this would be worsened by lower management asking someone to pick up the next call on the conveyor belt of many.

    Advice to Management

Try not to turn an IT service desk into a call centre. Otherwise you will end up with a department full of monkey's at typewriters for the fores sable future. Quality overrides quantity on the Service Desk, some more appreciation towards the qualities exhibited by many analysts wouldn't go amiss.

I worked at Saint-Gobain full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Secure job and potential growth within the group if you can tolerate the working conditions and negative attitude of the senior management.

    Cons

Poor pay for the long hours and the conditions you are expected to work in. , Completely unrealistic management expectations and targets which are never achieved. If you do not work excessively hard you will be publicly humiliated by the management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stop harassing the operators. The management attitude is terrible towards the workforce. The physical working environment is awful and dirty. The kit is out of date and very manual. Operators and managers are leaving in droves. The HR function needs to ask the question why?

    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at Saint-Gobain full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro would be there are some members of staff, at a lower level, who are wonderful to work with.

    Cons

I worked for International Decorative Surfaces. Archaic attitudes and ideals, HR directors with zero tact, empathy and professionalism, managing directors holding secret parties for select staff (particularly female), inappropriate behaviour and comments from managing directors.

    Advice to Management

Do better. Bring yourselves into the 21st century, and actually start caring about your employees and their lives outside of work. Your staff turnover will never be better unless you stop allowing archaic behaviour and attitudes. Near naked women in your advertising is vulgar and demeaning, it’s not ok just because a managing director likes it.

I worked at Saint-Gobain full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lot of opportunities within the group, and in different departments

    Cons

No special cons as an apprentice as the company value the qualified students hired as apprentice

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on apprentice development and access to job opportunities in their local country and abroad, before the end of the apprenticeship
