I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and ESOP are great. They claim you get off at 1230 on Fridays however that's rare due to workload.

    Cons

Overworked and underpaid. Lack of recognition for hard work. Talk is cheap related to culture. There are several unhappy people.

    Advice to Management

Look beyond your cliques and value employees of all levels. Spend money on systems that actually work

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good culture, great people. Work-life balance is good.

    Cons

Pay, not performance based. It all really depends on your manager and how well your manager knows you.

    Pros

Great coworkers, great atmosphere, great hours and benefits. Priority on culture is very nice.

    Cons

You start at 95th percentile of median salary of your title. Promotion depends more on your manager than what you're doing or your performance.

I worked at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great ESOP program after 3 years employment. Strong growth year after year.

    Cons

Overly lean operations are great for the company's bottom line, but bad for the employees who have to work harder because the company doesn't want to invest in much needed upgrades.

    Advice to Management

Pushing your employees to produce is fine, but the pressure needs to be equally placed on upper management to provide the necessary resources.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has a good culture, pays fairly well (including a bonus structure), has an ESOP and early out Fridays.

    Cons

They put a lot of effort into forcing you into the culture and a lot of the management structure is pretty vertical. It isn't as noticeable in line level positions, but you can see some of the specialty areas almost have more managers than employees.

    High performing/ stress

I worked at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee Stock Option Plan @ 25% or less of salary (average 18%), for a consistently profitable company. ESOP, 401K (non matching), Incentive and TIP bonuses.

    Cons

Claim Agile progress, but only thinking for the next 2 years, with very minimal automation in place.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Executive leadership seems to have a solid idea where company is going.
    - ESOP has, in the past, been extraordinarily generous for participants

    Cons

    - Company is FILLED with long-time employees who refuse to consider new ideas, including managers.
    - Employees spread over four sites for cost savings, but hard to coordinate between all four and despite a "company first" motto each site has its own territorial issues and often won't work with others.
    - Challenging and outdated infrastructure
    - Perpetual concerns that Chicago office will close has created a toxic, unpleasant atmosphere there, with many fearing that their jobs will be eliminated or moved.

    Advice to Management

Too long a list to actually post here, but most of what they're doing now is short term measures. They need to look long term. Invest in systems updates or delete blocks of business. Invest in locations or combine them. The continuous "bandage" approach is wearing thin.

    Pros

    Great Culture and Great People

    Cons

If you are in the sales side of the company, there is very little growth. You must leave to get further experience and then have the willingness to come back
