I worked at Santa Cruz Biotechnology full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There is nothing positive about working for this company.

    Cons

The manager lady literally locks people in the office during tax season to prevent people from leaving at the end of their shift.

    Advice to Management

Just pull the plug on the company already, you need to put people out of their misery like you did with all those poor goats and rabbits.

I worked at Santa Cruz Biotechnology part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Some people are nice. Free bagels once in awhile

    Cons

Tedious work. Wanted to fall asleep everyday. Heard they don't give references.

    Advice to Management

Have a better corporate culture. Don't have it be a job where people come in, work, and leave. Ask people about their day, encourage people to bring in headphones and listen to music while working, and overall just make it a more lively environment. Also, when training someone new, tell them some background - don't just jump into training them.

I worked at Santa Cruz Biotechnology full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They have a lot of fun employee benefits: free (fancy) bread, bagels, cake, catered company events. They even have a decent health, dental, and vision. They are flexible and willing to let you take vacation and sick time. Workflow is all that matters and as long as it gets done, the boss is happy. This means that if you are a little late they wont really care. Just don’t push the rules. The people you work with...

    Cons

There is no upward momentum. The company hierarchy is: Owner, manager, full time staff, and part time staff. The managers have also been there for tens of years so don't expect to ever get promoted. This also means that full time staff will often take a supervisory roll but still be stuck with less pay and assistant in their title; this is not good when trying to get a better job. The company always reports great earnings...

    Advice to Management

Please create a better hierarchy. This would probably increase morale by offering the chance for upward momentum and decrease the amount of work most managers have to take on. Also work on giving regular raises, even a little. Owners, don't advertize that you just had your best year but you don't have money to pay your staff, that is just tacky.
