I have been working at ScS Sofas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Steady job, commission depends on how good you are. Good incentives to win prizes. Good laugh if you have a good team.

    Cons

Long hours, weekends, bank holidays and Christmas you have to work. Heavy lifting - sofas. Showrooms looks too packed with lots of stock not laid out properly.

    Advice to Management

Look at how the competitors are doing it. Get a new buyer who knows what style is!

I worked at ScS Sofas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Depending on store, good opportunities to get some good commission on top of your salary. Friendly happy place to work, ideal for school leaver.

    Cons

Unsociable hours, need to work weekends and a couple of late nights. Very occasionally have to work until 10pm, not great job if you are married or in a relationship.

    Advice to Management

Pay commission at time of sale with no claw backs if issue is beyond sales persons control.

    Pros

Customers are awesome and plenty of them :)

    Cons

Constantly moving very heavy sofas upstairs and then downstairs to meet with the never ending fake sales.. pay is ok but nowhere near rewarding enough for the tiresome work put in.. and yes moving sofas and furniture full pos changes all whilst wearing a suit :) and then being expected to serve customers stinking of body odour whilst also covered in dust :) oh and forget a personal or family life :) that goes out the window when you sign your contract ;)

    Advice to Management

Alternative weekends off please and ability to do one late night only :) small price to ask for back breaking work :)

I have been working at ScS Sofas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good wages to be earned, hard to progress with stale middle management not moving to create space for peeps who want to progress.

    Cons

Moving furniture all the time in tight overstocked showrooms that start to look like second hand stores

    Advice to Management

Move the non moving store management to give other people a chance

I have been working at ScS Sofas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work is easy, but in a busy location is not manageable for one person. When things run smoothly it is okay.

    Cons

Silly rules where only one person is designated for certain tasks in store (even if they are not in store that day). Due to nature of the work 10hr shifts where sometimes you are expected to not take your full hour break; for example Bank Holiday Monday extended hours 09:00-20:00, because they are busy, in the interests of more sales and commission they will expect you to not take your full hour. Issues in store are not dealt with quickly due to forgetful staff, sales people mis-informing customers due to not taking enough care to learn the system.

I have been working at ScS Sofas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    met some nice people (customers)

    Cons

Never pay you correctly. Constantly lie to you, nearly impossible to take time off, constant texts and emails demanding more sales. constant lifting of furniture and cleaning of store, they send you all over the place and expect you to travel miles away from your store without any compensation, the things they say to customers who have faulty goods is just damn right embarrassing, revolving door of staff etc etcI could go on and on if you are looking for work and see this and still start there you need your head seeing to

    Advice to Management

most of them couldn't run a bath let alone take advice. They all know better and i'm looking forward to their downfall as you can't fool all the people all the time. Disgraceful company with truly horrible people in positions of power.

    Pros

Good pay , unlimited commission if you are good.

    Cons

Progression slow and very competitive. Very male dominated workplace, hours are very anti social ... work all bank holidays and weekends

    Advice to Management

Stronger development for staff to progress. And find a way of rotating more weekend and holidays off

I worked at ScS Sofas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You like constantly changing old tatty point of sale, don't have friends or a life in general, then it's not too bad

    Cons

Staying awake. Slave labour moving furniture in a shirt and tie. Long boring hours listening to rubbish music should be a Heath and safety issue. Poor looking stores with lack of investment. Well behind the times compared to the competition. If they actually moved this company into the modern age, the money involved would send share prices fall through the floor then POP! No scs

    Advice to Management

Look at what the competition are doing and wake up to the fact that your 'proven working model' ain't working

I worked at ScS Sofas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Commission can be good. High basic in comparison to some furniture sales.

    Cons

Too many to list but brief is No work life balance. Two 10-8 shifts a week. Senior staff change rotas with no notice to suit them. Some midnight finishes!. No overtime paid.

Bullying and harrassment, no praise for a 20k week over 6k taget and top of region but threatened with sack for one week of missing 7k target by 2k. Every sale is scrutinise. Work for store target to earn your manager money. No share of it what so ever.

KPIS and shouted about constantly. Again no praise when achieved but will shout and scream when not. Many members of staff were made to cry on a weekly basis during their WEEKLY reviews.

HR Do not care anout any bullying either. So dont even bother.

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. There are so many othwr furniture retails who are great to work for. I know happily i work for them now!

    Advice to Management

Stop treating staff like sausages in a factory. We have lifes, get some motivationals managers not bullys.

STOP pretending your in SALE!! Customers are not stupid.

MIDNIGHT Finishes!! Then starting at 9 next day. Proves you dont care one iota about your staff.
