I worked at Schuh Limited part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I’m really interested in what you lots do. I would consider myself as a stronger candidate for the customers and a team, individual and as a team. Knowing at a vast range of the safety and ustomers service. Customer focused, always polite and helpful and always prioritize the needs of the customer at all times.

    Cons

Having a customer enter the shop and ask for a shoe size and asking the candidate to hold as I go to the stock room to look for the specific size then leaving the stock to find out that the customer has left the shop.

    Advice to Management

    • Stock replenishment
    • Dealing with customer queries
    • Making sure that items were back in place at the end of the day
    • Always keen to cover shifts for absent colleagues
    • Operating the tills
    • Worked as part of a shop team to maximize profits and deliver excellent service to customers
    • Built relationships with customers to maximize client retention

    Pros

Sociable place to work with other young people.

Flexible working hours (I was part time).

    Good for building your confidence.

You have to work to targets, some people like that and others didn’t

    Some staff incentives

    Good staff discount

    Cons

You had to be on the shop floor ten min before your shift began and tidy up your section after your shift had ended. This often meant 20 minutes unpaid work which was a lot because I only ever got given 3 hour shifts

I have been working at Schuh Limited full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent progression from sales advisors to management, and movement around the country. Plenty of training courses for management. In hours training for staff. Great feeling of fun and team enjoyment. Schuh encourages your personality to come out!

    Cons

Can sometimes feel that if you're not prepared to move cities any more that you're a little bit forgotten by regional manager. When you do get to a senior deputy level the salary isn't always in line with your experience.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes your stable and experienced deputies/no2's are a little forgotten. These managers hold the stores together while trainees and store managers are moving! You've spent thousands on training these managers to get them in this position, and they shouldn't be over looked or feel under valued.

Great first job for teenagers who have just finished school.
Really good pay for a sales assistant.
Lots of opportunities to work your way up into management.
    Great discount, 25% and 40% .

    Cons

Lots of young staff. Can be problematic at times.
Once you get into management your pay doesn't increase with your responsibilities.

Shame that all the managers are idiots and bullies, also they all gang up on all the staff and swear at you and bully you until you do what they want.

    Advice to Management

Quit your jobs and learn how to be decent human beings instead of being vile
