I worked at Scottish Water full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

A good place to work with flexible agile working as long as you have a decent manager. Decent working conditions. Good standards of health and safety coupled with health regulations to ensure water supply is within standards and wastewater is removed and treated correctly. Good prospects for graduates or if you push yourself forward

    Cons

Open offices are a playschool for some. No one hurries but everyone wants answers yesterday. For a public company, they really do waste taxpayer's money and do not follow up or chase non-compliance with their own rules. Contractors do as they wish as long as boxes are ticked.

I have been working at Scottish Water

    Pros

Agile working, nice people, lots of opportunities for the right people, paid volunteering days, nice away days at posh hotels.

    Cons

Too much movement of staff. Too many contractors. Bullying at senior levels. Preference to male staff and women without families. A lot of covering up of true figures. An ancient version of P6 is used but final reports come from 'elsewhere'.

I have been working at Scottish Water full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good holidays. Flexible hours. Agile working. Lots of opportunities for training. Understand the need to invest in their workforce.

    Cons

Communication between departments could be improved. Sometimes you can lose visibility on tasks that you have passed on so do not know their progress.
