RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at SeeByte full-time
Pros
challenging, interesting work. Lot's of scope for self-direction. Lot's of travel and training opportunities. Supportive and engaging work place culture, flat management structure, approachable senior management.
Cons
a lot of legacy code- makes integrating new development challenging (and expensive). lack of mentorship for high-level design/software architecture company should increase investment in updating and replacing core technologies and code base.

RecommendsPositive OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at SeeByte full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
- There is some very interesting work to do in the field. Working with robots is a very rewarding experience for an engineer. - There are many opportunities to travel in some great places. The travel compensation is decent and you can often take holidays at the travel destination by adjusting your return flight date. - There people from all over the world here and they are great to work alongside. The engineers are very knowledgeable so you can learn a lot from them. - The offices are located close to the center of Edinburgh, which is an amazing city to live in. - There is a good work/life balance
Cons
- The development process is quite cumbersome (CMMI) and doesn't always guarantee high quality code - Engineers move often between projects which can be disruptive for both the engineer and the project. Sometimes engineers are placed in positions outside their areas of interest.

RecommendsPositive OutlookI have been working at SeeByte full-time for more than 8 years
Pros
Doing cutting edge technology in autonomy, image processing, data management and visualisation for underwater robotics. There are not many companies that offer this type of work! The engineers are young, talented, dynamic and come from all over the world. You will learn a lot about robotics and software engineering. The office is open plan so discussions about the technology are encouraged. Good opportunities to travel abroad with work and a generous travel compensation policy when you do. My fave place to go with SeeByte is San Diego! A great mix of product, project and research work so there's scope to do a wide range of engineering from prototyping through to product development. A good benefits package with generous holidays, flexible working hours policy, travel policy and on-line training courses. Offices right in the centre of Edinburgh which is a great place to live. There's a good work-life balance too.
Cons
While I think management do listen to the engineer's views, they could be faster to respond to them.
