    Cons

    Pay structure is very hidden
Processes can be slow and clunky
    Can be unreceptive to change

    Advice to Management

Be more open about the pay structure, it shouldn’t be a hidden thing people are scared to discuss.
Manage performance and talent in the business better.

I worked at Severn Trent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Inspirational CEO
Important service organisation, great focus on customer service and building a water legacy for future generations
    Pay and benefits
    Flexible working

    Cons

Very limited progression opportunities - constantly recruiting externally instead of promoting from within.
Definitely a blame culture - senior management and executive team always looking to blame individuals rather than providing an opportunity to learn and develop
HQ in Coventry is terrible location to commute by car
Parking on site is expensive and there is a very long waiting list and it’s expensive to use local cat parks

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Very inspirational CEO
Really important company providing an essential service
    Some great people
Lots of history and a focus on building future legacy
Great communication and engagement at a company level
    Some great aspirations

    Cons

Individual and team experience doesn’t match the company rhetoric
No cohesion at an executive level
Work is not always acknowledged or attributed to the right people
    Blame culture is rife
If your face fits you’re fine, if not forget it

    Advice to Management

Do what you say you will, just putting it on Twitter doesn’t make it real
Get trained in fairness and bias because you have little of one and lots of the other
Don’t take credit for others work and be so quick to assign blame
Take action on areas that clearly have a problem..... check out recent attrition data
Look honestly at who on the exec is actually competent (recent appointments in support areas are not)

    Pros

Everyone is really friendly and management are approachable and visible throughout the business. Salaries are good and the benefits are brilliant. Everyone is striving to do well and does the right thing by our customers and our colleagues.

    Cons

Nothing! Yes its hard work and during incidents it can be tiring but everyone pulls together as a big team.

    Advice to Management

Carry on making sure employees are looked after well especially during incidents.

I worked at Severn Trent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

pay, you are looked after, constantly given valuable training,

    Cons

some miserable engineers that have worked there for years and refuse to help apprentices as its not their job. Health and safety mad.

    Advice to Management

Get to know more about the apprenticeship scheme so that you know what your apprentice is supposed to be doing.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time

    Pros

Flexible hours, supportive management. The company want you to progress and achieve your full potential. Friendly and relaxed work environment

    Cons

Things take ages to get done, some people are stretched too thinly. Vital and useful information not readily or easily available.

    Advice to Management

Promoting people who are time served yet not very good at actually managing a team of staff or projects doesn't help the development of the company.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fair overall package, love the people I work with, flexible working conditions, current CEO is a breath of fresh air (how often do you hear that from shop floor?).

    Cons

Office locations are not great - you may have to travel (but WFH is common), some of the wider teams can be difficult to work with, habitual and difficult to change ways of working,

    Advice to Management

sort your comms out - you are at least trying, but misinformation / rumor can be difficult especially during times of change.
Write new processes, don't try and change (add) to the ones you've got - simple things can be really frustrating to achieve at times.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good pension, holidays and location.

    Cons

Development is outsourced. Choice of tools and frameworks is just absurd. AEM and Karaf are the primary ones and that's it. We find ourselves unemployable elsewhere as there is no one in UK looking for these skills.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits and pay. Great flexible working, with a laid back atmosphere.

    Cons

Good head office, however generally too slow-moving and stuck in the old ages with people who have been there many years and too stubborn to adapt. Too many other offices are inadequate and outdated much like the company itself.

    Advice to Management

Give grads more real responsibility and not just hand them the left overs or offloading them with other people's workloads
