I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    flexible working,
    career development
    great leadership
    accountability
    brillaint culture
    good benefits
good resources avaialble within the company.

Everyday is a different day, you get so much opportunity to develop skills within your department and also outside the department. Management is very understanding, no bossy culture. You are given your own work (depending on the deaprtment) and have all authority to make decisions.

    Cons

No major negatives about the company. Some people are not satisfied witht he salary bands but HR is working hard to introduce the tranparency in it. Salary comes with the hard and smart work - if you deserve it then you will get it.

    Advice to Management

keep up the good work in developing people and leading them in the right direction. You all are fabulous and everyone look up to people.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work, friendly open culture. Senior leaders are approachable and good to work with. Lots of different opportunities to progress.

    Cons

Everyone is busy doing their job, so can be hard to make wider changes.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good pension, holidays and location.

    Cons

Development is outsourced. Choice of tools and frameworks is just absurd. AEM and Karaf are the primary ones and that's it. We find ourselves unemployable elsewhere as there is no one in UK looking for these skills.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fair overall package, love the people I work with, flexible working conditions, current CEO is a breath of fresh air (how often do you hear that from shop floor?).

    Cons

Office locations are not great - you may have to travel (but WFH is common), some of the wider teams can be difficult to work with, habitual and difficult to change ways of working,

    Advice to Management

sort your comms out - you are at least trying, but misinformation / rumor can be difficult especially during times of change.
Write new processes, don't try and change (add) to the ones you've got - simple things can be really frustrating to achieve at times.

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits and pay. Great flexible working, with a laid back atmosphere.

    Cons

Good head office, however generally too slow-moving and stuck in the old ages with people who have been there many years and too stubborn to adapt. Too many other offices are inadequate and outdated much like the company itself.

    Advice to Management

Give grads more real responsibility and not just hand them the left overs or offloading them with other people's workloads

I have been working at Severn Trent full-time

    Pros

The salary you receive during training is fantastic,

    Cons

Once you move over to the centre after your initial training the pay you receive doesn't really seem to match the hours as every 3rd week you will be doing 10 hour shifts. Although you do get time off to compensate, however most of the time these are of little help due to when they fall.

    Advice to Management

Maybe look at your shifts to reduce stress on staff and increase a better work life balance, especially for those with children, as there does not seem to be a great amount of flexibility.
